They are never out of the meta.

Mord was nerfed for challenging the Marksmen meta the game has been in since season 1.

mord was reworked to challenge the marksman meta. he was nerfed for being stupid and broken and weird to play against + he is a gimmick.

Bot lane meta unable to deviate substantially from ADC+support, but most marksman can go in other lanes.

No...if you don't take a ranged AD carry bot you are significantly lowering your chances of winning.

If you have a good tower pusher somewhere else, you can do just as good.

And if you want mages to be good at taking towers, it requires weaker towers -- the other thing people complain about all the time this season

No you can't. Sorry dude but there is a reason why AD + support bot has been the meta since the end of Season 1. You need Attack Damage carries for objectives (baron/dragon/towers) and they have to be ranged because ranged champions are superior to melees simply because they have range.

it requires a stronger ap scaling on tower dmg. not weaker towers.

If there were better options, the pro scene and higher elos would find it at some point. And, unfortunately, the few times that's happened it's more due to a balance outlier than an actual alternate strategy. LCS pros don't play things in LCS "for fun," they play to win.

Never forget that one time Mordekaiser was banned game after game in LCS after his rework.

And metagaming isn't just creativity, it's also about efficiency and power. Understanding LoL's meta will help understand why bot lane meta is the way it is, and I could go on about it but it's generally about itemization and synergy with gold income and experience gains. Marksman need the least levels to do damage compared to, say, mages and assassins. And then there's dragon and neutral objectives and blah blah blah blah.

So yeah, that's why I don't buy "Riot despises AD carries." The meta just naturally favors them (several individual metas have just revolved around protecting or killing the ADC) particularly in bot lane, so Riot not showing favoritism is a bit different than outright hating them.
