Climbing in Solo/Duo Queue is More Difficult Than What it Should Be?

Hey guys, I am wondering why am I losing almost as much lp than I gain. I am currently receiving about 1719lps per win and losing about 1718lps per loss. I placed in Silver II ish and have already climbed up to Gold I. I would be a lot higher but I have no clue why I am not gaining more lps per win. My ign is ƒenomenål and I am currently at 97W/77L during this post. I have read about needing to play more games, however, I have close to 200 ranked games. I also have read about your hidden mmr being lower than what the system thinks you are, however, I have been around roughly 56% wr overall in ranked throughout and there should not be a reason why I am not gaining more lp than losing. Any explanation would be greatly appreciated.

I feel like I would agree, seems like you should be getting a better differential of lp per win/loss because of your positive win rate, but it also depends on a lot of other variables like: when did you start recording ur lp gains and have you kept track every game, it is possible you may be off on your estimates. The difference of MMR between the players in the games you are playing and probably other things I'm not aware of.

Assuming you are being accurate and the games are on average balanced in MMR, I would be inclined to believe that you should be getting more lp per win because of your higher than 55% WR.

Last season when I had a 60% + WR in silver I was getting closer to 20 lp per win and losing 15-17 per loss.

Win % becomes more dramatic over higher # of games in a MMR system. Weight is higher on early games but at no point does it lock you down.

LP slants to reflect any gaps between Expected Rank and Assigned Rank in direct relation to your MMR. So if your being placed in games near your MMR and your Rank matches that, your gains are about even. If your in games above your level, it slants to give you more LP for wins, takes away less on a loss. The opposite is true and fairly common for players with lower MMR then their rank. A negative LP slant is very common in division 4 due to the stupidly high gap riot set for demotions.

Rule of thumb. If its within 1.5 divisions of your MMR for the match average your probably going to see equal gains.

Think of it like a Check book balance. You add to your total sum per win, subtract from it on losses. Putting in 30$ 4 times back to back is less money then putting in 15$ 20 times. You can have a Wr of 51%.... but if you have 10,000 games your looking at a gain of 100 matches worth of "balance." Compared to say your 56% from 176 games that results in a net gain of 22 Wins. Also K factor is a thing so weight per W or L is not the same over the year.
