@FeralPony Does Riot consider Graves a succesful rework?

I 've been wondering this for months and i'd die for a Riot response. Graves was my main adc and he somehow became a jungler/top champion. Do you consider this a succesful rework? Any changes to come (or hopefully the kogmaw treat) ?

I wish people would stop saying the Graves rework was bad, or that it should be reverted.

THE GRAVES REWORK WAS AN OBJECTIVE SUCCESS AND SHOULD NOT BE REVERTED. Just because you don't you don't like playing against him doesn't mean its a bad rework. Just because you think he's too strong, doesn't mean its a bad rework.

The Old Graves had simple, obvious problems, and the rework addressed all of them. His two problems were that: A) He had too much overlap with Lucian in terms of what they brought to a team (bursty mobile ADCs) and B) He didn't deliver on his Shotgun-wielding fantasy

Because he and Lucian filled the same role, one of them had to change. Since Lucian's playstyle matched his theme and Graves' didn't, Graves needed the rework.

And was the rework a success? Hell yeah it was. Graves is now a real double-barrel slinging badass, with a playstyle distinct from all other ADCs in how he is rewarded for close range combat.

Yes, bot lane ADC is not longer Graves' most optimal role (though it is still possible) Yes, Graves doesn't play the exact same way. Yes, he's overtuned right now. NONE of that makes it an unsuccessful rework.

Graves wasn't just a good rework, its the single best rework to come out of any of the roster updates.

I did ask one rioter about his current most played role, he said they are happy he found a place where he can fit in and also that he still functions as an adc in bot if you understand his weaknesses and strengths. I personally don't think his rework was a failure, as a matter of fact, I think his is the most successful one considering his changes were huge.

I think it is their only successful rework

But thats the point, is a rework succesful if you moved the champion away from his role?

It was the Marksman update, not the ADC update. (Note how Quinn was one of the updates and still isn't actually played as an ADC.)

Graves is still a marksman, and he now has his own niche outside of being "that guy who's almost always worse than Lucian". This means the rework succeeded in its intention, though it still needs some fine tuning most likely.

It's not like Kog's rework, which caused more problems than it solved.

I doubt riot intended him to be a top/jungler, so it was a failure, but he became relevant so I think it was a good failure.

I actually firmly believe he was meant to become a jungler, why else would they give him the knock back minions mechanic when it is so perfect for farming camps, why else would they design it so his bullets coulden't aim over other objects/minions, which is horrible for adc, but just fine for bullying and farming.

As for my opinion, i consider it a whole new champion the old graves feels far to different from new graves, It greatly saddens me that we coulden't have just kept old graves while getting the new one.

Well, Riot did say that they wanted AD carries to be able to move into more roles than bot, and that was kind of a subgoal of the Marksman update. I actually remember a Rioter specifically saying that he/she thought Graves would be best in bot with the help of a support, but they would be very happy if he moved into other lanes.
