Are you forgetting any and all of the broken mid lane mages? Like Taliyah, Azir, Aurelion Sol, Malzahar, Twisted Fate, Xerath and Zoe?
The only mid lane assassin who absolutely stomps in every elo is Zed, and even then he gets dumpstered by the aforementioned mages if he doesn't have a sustainable kill feed for himself.
As for Katarina she's much the same as Zed, however she has MORE delays than he does, in exchange for more damage.
Also, one other thing, all the assassins have delays right now which were created just for whiners like you to invest some time into playing around.

So......a tank meta, ADC meta, bruiser meta, another tank meta and a mage meta are more healthy than an assassin meta (which btw has never actually been a thing)? Assassins don't focus on objectives, so honestly they're healthy in the sense that they don't rely on deathballing to win the game, they actually switch things up to get themselves fed (namely by focusing priority targets).

"Least fun champion type".....no. ADCs, tanks and supports are the least fun champion archetypes to both play as and against. Mages and bruisers are the same level of cancer as assassins, but these 3 classes are nowhere near as bad as ADCs, tanks and supports.
You want to know why? Because ADCs, tanks and supports are THE most overbuffed roles in the entire game due to the fact that Riot desperately wants competitive to revolve around them.
When's the last time you saw an assassin get buffed? Never? I thought so.

So you'd take a meta where literally everyone but bot lane wants to fucking die because they're playing supportive roles and as a result farm lanes vs their lane opponents?

The ADC meta is also the meta which revolved around THE most braindead sub-class in the game, enchanters. Their only job is to hit their one button to heal/shield and bam! The game's determined by who abuses Ardent first.

I never remember an assassin at all acting like that unless they pubstomped/smurfed and went 20/0.
At least with ADCs you have to attack for more than .15 seconds.
Assassins now have 0.75-2 second delays (unless they're hyperfed). Try again.
Also ADCs arguably have more burst than assassins now given how broken they are with the current runes and their insane synergy with crit (hello there crit. Vayne).
Or go 5/0 on a mage and watch the katarina still have the lane advantage on you becuase she picked an assassin.
Because you couldn't follow her roams correctly nor could you ping your bot lane to back off properly. Also buy more Control Wards to ward the river brushes <3
If both teams have a mid lane assassin it's who has the better mid lane assassin.
No, it's decided by who has the better jungle or who gets Serrated Dirk first.

I take it that assassins get hyperfed a lot down where you are.
Try a few things to remedy this:
-spam pings when they go missing
-ward (a lot)
-don't just build full offence
-focus on objectives
-turtle vs a fed assassin until later into the game (since late game, assassins fall off)
-play around their delays
-learn how each assassin plays
-WARD MORE
-follow their roams
