Why is Lux Being Used Now

So I'm kinda lost on why Lux is somewhat meta now, even though she hasn't had any changes since 8.9, and it really frustrates me because she's my main champ. I know that the reworked Aftershock, but other than that, is there any reason why she's being used more? [sg-lux-2]

spammable moves that deal great dmg for a support (she can zone REALLY well), a snare that is pretty much a death sentence past the 15 minute mark and is on a short cooldown. Her ult has a basic skill cool down and can hit targets from a mile away + she has a shield that can shield multiple people and she becomes quite tanky with aftershock on.

W max support lux means you can't take damage in lane if you play it right.

Because mid lane is dominated by champions who boil down to 'kill the opponent before they kill you.' Lux out-ranges them and retains the potential to burst them down, while her root makes it hard to assassinate her, making her a safe pick and effective pick against virtually everything.

Once she gets nerfed, Xerath will probably take her place.

The way I understand it, Lux has always been good, but she wasn't safe. (she's immobile and squishy). However since her buffs on her shield, with her Q having a static cooldown - she can shield max or shield max second - also using the resolve tree with aftershock - making her a safe pick in pro play.

It sounds like that it’s mainly due to changes made to Aftershock. I guess my real concern, as a Lux main, is that they’re going to nerf her a little bit. The problem I see with that though is that she was never relevant, in pro play, until they changed Aftershock; so I’d think the rune is the issue, not the champ

People go in cycles on whether or not they are able to dodge her Q.
