Feed, Tilt and Infamous Playing The Champion For The First Time

Dear Riot Games,

I have been playing this game for a while and to be honest I do not plan on quitting any time soon. As much I love this game, it has been hard for me to climb and have pleasant games because of other players. Now, I am not an expert and I do sometimes loose my focus and make bad decisions and calls, also I do understand having a bad day and playing the game to relax and forget about the outside world. However, even though I do not have a big problem with feeding and flaming because someone is having a bad day, I do have a problem with players feeding and flaming when they are playing a champion for the first time in ranked queues. Ranked games are supposed to be more serious, and I get it, it is only a game, but when you lose so many game because of a player deciding to pick a champion he never played in his life for the first time and then goes and feeds, now this is what bothers me.

I am writing this to offer a suggestion.

Have you ever considered somehow locking champions in ranked games? By this I mean, have you ever considered making a champion unplayable for a player if he or she did not spend some time playing that champion? I think, it would really be beneficial if you were to lock or make a champion unplayable in lower elo, (up to lets say Diamond III or even lower or higher I will let you think about that) if a player did not previously played the champion a few times(2 or 3, again this I live to you) in blind pick before playing that champion in ranked games. I have experienced myself and even saw other streamers complain how someone is playing poorly because he or she picked a champion for the first time in a ranked game.

With this adjustment, I believe it will be easier to climb and more enjoyable playing ranked games because there will be no players or very few players that perform poorly because they do not know what to buy from the shop or spend time reading what their spells do. In order for a player to play a champion, he or she would have to go and play one or more games in blind or draft pick so they get to know their champion. This would not only help others climb but will benefit the player as well. Games would have less feeders and the percentage of a player undermining other player would be decreased, maybe for a small amount, but it will be a step towards more enjoyable and more competitive ranked games.

Thank you for your patience and time, I hope I gave you something to think about. Much love and keep up the good work!

Sincerely, proximo

I don't think they'd do it because smurfs would bitch and whine about it, but I think its necessary.

wouldn't smurfs have to level the account in blind pick and/or normal draft with their main champions? Ranked does start at level 30.

pretty much all games pre level 30 i played were on supports cause i can't bother screaming over people, actually a jungle main though.

No, this is a bad idea. If anything all champions should be unlocked for ranked. Some players only play ranked, so youd end up limiting their pool unreasonably, and you need options for counterpicks or filling out your teamcomp.

All youd do is shoot yourself in the foot more than anything.

Considering the fact that one of the motivational speech contains a smurf, I doubt it'll ever be a thing.

I think locking it to a certain mastery level like 3 or 4? So the player has had some time to experience the different ways to play that champion would be a good shout, but yes. Very good call out and idea.

and when the enemy team pulls out the 5 tank team you cant go trundle or amumu just because you didnt grind it in normals even though you used to play them quite a bit before the mastery system became a thing

Could be a lower mastery :P Idk just brain storming.

I thought about this as well, basically my only qualm is that people have to trade each other champions sometimes.

If I can't pick a champ my teammate wants [zombie-brand-facepalm]

The reason I am against this is that most people I know and myself included only play 3 champions. I have played more than those three, but it is also not uncommon for a lane to have 3 bans thrown at it (i.e. I regularly see zed, yas, and akali banned in one shot). Now if someone plays those three champions exclusively then they are up a creek. Don't get me wrong I too get very frustrated when someone decides to play a champion for the first time in ranked but, for me at least, that is very few and far between. Also those players tend to not flame as much as get flamed for their predicament.

going off point... but i hope you don't mean your 3 mains are zed, yasuo, and akali :P

Nah, My 3 mains are Jax, Warwick, and Xin. I jg for the most part.

Y'know now that I think about it, wouldn't it hurt boosters too? If the account they're trying to boost isn't playing the same champs as them at least. Dunno if they'll really do this though.

Problem is that normals is an absolutely terrible environment for learning champions. If normals weren't so bad then people would be willing to practice in normals before going to ranked. Even if you try normal draft instead of blind pick, you always get people who just troll pick and play like idiots.

i picke first time champs if people ban my hovered, serves them right

I dont think its reasonable to expect people to grind solo que with people who troll and cry its just a game surrender or they leave just to have the option of playing a champion open and the same when a new champion is released. boards already kill people who learn fast ability to learn champions fast and take the into ranked and climb (which is a certain set of skills) because some people FEEL like the champion is too new. as if learning is a torrent on slow interenet that requires you to take a few days.

I only play ranked and I only first time champs in rank and I've never played worse than people playing literally every other champ in the list.

This is a non-issue. The issue is terrible players.
