Bring back dominion

As we all know, everyone's favorite game mode was removed a while ago. I'm here to tell you all why it should be brought back. Not everyone has time for a full game of SR or TT, and I'm sure we've all gotten leave warnings from playing and shoddy wifi disconnecting us multiple times, so we know punishments for AFKs are rather severe. So in that case, what can we play? ARAM. All Random (sort of) All Mid. Games take around 20 minutes to complete, so there's our answer. But not quite. I've played around 600 games of ARAM, and many times I have a lot of fun, but it has come to my attention that most of the games that I play are pretty much decided from the start. One team has all bruisers and the other has janna, sona, and 3 ADCs. It isn't even about skill at that point. When the game is "randomly" tilted in one team's favor, even if one team is more skilled than the other and seizes every opportunity they get, they can still easily lose because of a lottery. If not Dominion, there should be a short game mode that actually lets skilled players win with their skill.

I enjoyed dominion, skipping the laneing phase was a cool change, and 20 minute games were attractive (back when Rift took 50 minutes a game.)

But dominion had horrific balance issues, where a handful of champions were running over entire teams. Champions with resets, or high mobility and damage for example. It did not work as intended, and this was reflected by the tiny player base. Only a month after it came out the map was dead. Meet the same players every game, 15 minutes queue times. They tried to balance each champion but it simply didn't work.

We don't need dominion back. We don't need Twisted treeline back.

We need a new smaller map, one that works. Maybe not as small as Twisted Treeline or Dominion, but smaller than SR, with new interesting objectives that reward several playstyles.

In my opinion, I think they should just get some developers and make a bunch of maps, let the ideas flow, throw them at the players and see what stick. Use recycled assets from SR, TT or dominion. There has to be at least 1-2 other map layouts that work.

I really enjoyed Dominion and played it quite a bit back then. I would probably enjoy it now, but the queue times back then was just way too long. If it came back, I would like it to be in a rotation so then when it is up, Dominion players will be rushing to queue it, as with any other game modes like Twisted Treeline.

They cant until they rework Skarner. The spires are still on the rift.

Dom had too many balance issues and the higher you got the worse matches felt.

This statement hits at the heart of the issue that keeps a lot of players who have been with the game for a long time away from active LoL play. It's not necessarily about dominion: it's about not wanting to buckle up for your 20 - minute laning phase and prepare to watch every twitch your opponent makes towards killing a minion while you do your best to keep up your role and stay aware of the progressing state of the map. It's about wanting to get right into the action, shifting conflicts over objectives, fights with rogue champions, and the like. Of all the modes in League, the one I like the least is Summoner's Rift regular's. On the other side of the coin, however, the mode that I have liked the most was and is, in fact, dominion.

That being said, I think that the dominion map provided all of the necessary aspects for me to fully enjoy the game. Sure, it might have had some balance issues here and there, and yes, the loss of population and subsequent flood of bots was horrifying. But there was never really much done to help or save the situation. Regardless, I do know one thing -- a lot of people liked dominion, even if it was relatively extremely small compared to other queue sizes. If you search through the forum archives, at least one thread has been made every month since the retirement of The Crystal Scar on the topic of missing Dominion or wanting it back.

We know that our chances of this desire being met may be slim, but it's not as if we will give up. This is the only outlet we have to make our thoughts known, so here it is:

I liked dominion a lot and it would completely refresh my currently squandered League of Legends experience to see it or a similar gamemode make a showing, even if only as a rotating gamemode.

If you do want to support the return of dominion, however unlikely it may be, then check out this thread that was made a couple months back from this post and throw some upvotes:

That would cost money and make none, so don't hold your breath man
