WoW is doing it, why not League. Seriouly though, the current state of the game and the whole "meta" thing completely ruins the fun of the game. Maybe eSports is more lively, but as a soloQ player, the constant meta shifts combined the horrendeous matchmaking makes the live version a chore to play.

Nowadays, climbing soloQ basically boils down to who can abuse the meta better, whereas in the earlier seasons I could climb to diamond with Wukong jungle and a 60% win ratio, I honestly felt accomplished, not because the champ was OP, but because I played better. Now, one cannot argue that some champions are simply better given the same resources. League has how many champions now? but you never see the majority of the champs outside of ARAM...its laughable.

WoW (and Blizzard) is also notoriously politically correct, and have been extremely heavy handed with enforcing it. Using WoW as a basis for how other companies should behave is probably not the wisest. Furthermore, WoW is 15 years old, and has suffered a recent string of poorly received expansions. They released Classic WoW to appease fans and try to backpedal on recent negative publicity.
