To get out of Bronze, just CS'ing better and choosing your fights properly should be more than enough. There are tons of other things to learn to "get good", but just these two basic ones are sufficient to climb up to Silver.

  1. CS properly, not much to say. You just have to accept it's important, and not be lazy about it, pay attention to it. Take maybe 5 more seconds to clear a wave, but make sure you get them all, and don't lose 3 casters because your AoE spell left them all at 5 HP, this kind of things. You should have AT LEAST 7 minions per minute, and you should aim for 8-8.5. Just to give you an order of ideas, pros are at 9.5-10. More CS means more Gold, means more items, means easy fights, once you've accumulated enough of a Gold lead. ~ (Of course, more items is useless if you build bad items, so check your builds. OP.GG, Champion.gg, leagueofgraphs, etc. offer the most common builds by champions. They are not perfect, but you're in Bronze, so unless you're REALLY sure about something, you should trust them more than yourself. Take it as a stepping stone. Once you'll understand your champs and their subtleties, you can choose to deviate from the standard builds. But not for now.)

  2. Don't fight if there is no reason to fight.

    • Always count how many people of your team are here before starting a fight, and how many of the enemy team.
    • If you can't see someone from the enemy team, assume they're close enough and ready to jump on you when you don't expect it. You're safe if you can see them on another lane, but you are NOT safe if you simply can't see them in your lane.
    • When I say "Always", I do mean ALWAYS. "Someone else decided to engage" is not an excuse. If a stupid player makes a bad engage, don't follow them blindly, just let them die alone and try to defend, instead of following them and getting wiped.
    • Being 3v3 or 4v4 is still not a reason to fight. You're not outnumbered, but it's a fair fight. You don't want to fight fair fights, you want easy fights.
    • Your number one objective is pushing tower. Be patient, kill minions, and chip at towers. Don't towerdive or try to make big plays. You don't NEED to fight at all, as long as their nexus explode in the end.
    • Your number two objective is getting Dragons/Barons. Contesting an important neutral objective is the only reason you should consider fighting without a clear advantage. And even for a Dragon, don't fight without a good chance to win. They're 4 and doing their 3rd infernal? Well, tough luck, but if you try to contest that all by yourself, you're gonna die and they'll still get it anyway, so you'll gain nothing.
    • IF and ONLY IF you see a clear advantage, 5v4 or 4v3, then engage them and win that fight. But if there is no opportunity, just be patient, it's not a problem. There will be one at some point, you're in Bronze. If you want to climb higher than Silver, you will have to learn how to create and provoke those opportunities, but in Bronze, just be patient and wait for them to appear spontaneously.

(Proper Vision Control (warding and sweeping enemy wards) and good wave manipulation helps a lot to make the right fights happen, but they are not needed in Bronze. If you're curious, you can look about it in more details, but really in Bronze, just play safe and be patient, and you'll see opportunities arise by themselves. Especially, Vision Control gives you more information to make better decisions, but if you follow what I said and always assume the worst about enemy presence, you don't need it.)

The big takeaway from this post is this: people in Bronze are bad, so you don't need much to climb out. You just need to be a bit less bad than them. Focus on a few very basic points, make sure these basics are solid, and you'll climb ;)

Oh, and of course: it is never your team's fault. If you can't carry them, you don't deserve to climb. Because if you deserve to climb, it means you're better than the people around you, so of course they'll make (from your point of view) stupid mistakes and bad decisions. You have to expect it. You can't ask people around you to play well, or if you do, you're just acknowledging you're at the rank you deserve.

And don't start me on Elo Hell: Because of bad teams, you can be stuck 1 or 2 divisions lower than you actually deserve for a couple months, but not more. So if you're stuck in Bronze2, maybe you're barely worth Silver5 in reality and you're just unlucky. But not better, even a player worth only Silver3 should be able to get out of Bronze without much difficulties.

EDIT: this video is quite good regarding how to play the macro game and avoiding useless fights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3bYP4QG4Q8

To add to this, and how important CSing is:

15 CS is the equivalent of a full-value kill.

This is actually one of the better responses I've seen to posts like this. Gj [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

It helps being "only" Gold and still actually playing at Bronze Elo regularly. Higher Elo players tend to forget just how Bronze functions exactly, and tend to take for granted things that are not obvious at all for people lower down.

DeathBurst1 votes

That being said, I see we began playing roughly at the same time and that you're Diamond, so if you have a few tips regarding the next jump from Gold to Plat, I'm all ears :p

DU Baymax1 votes

It's difficult to explain. Basically, everything you told the original poster here, just at a higher level. Cs better, manipulate the waves so that your enemy misses farm if they back or roam, know when to roam and back yourself, know when to deep ward, where to deep ward, when to push and when to rotate. When to apply pressure. ALL of these things and more. Plus teamfighting, everything you said but better. Idk how to explain it better than that really.

Mokoro1 votes

that video is so boring :/

DeathBurst1 votes

Winning isn't flashy, but winning gets you LP. Everyone say they want to win, but when you watch what they actually do, they do counterproductive things.

If you play for fun, do whatever you want and enjoy yourself, and be happy with it. But if you want to climb, that's how you win games.

Mokoro1 votes

ok thank you

Unreformed Shaco3 votes

Don't play ADC. Learn somewhere else, you are too reliant on your support.

Mokoro1 votes

What should i play then

Starcraft243ver1 votes

Adcs are fine to carry as long as you are really good with positionning, but that's the hardest role in my opinion.

Mokoro1 votes

Whats the easiest role that i can carry with/champ

Starcraft243ver2 votes

Jungler and mid since they can be everywhere in the map.

But if you dont carry, you wont climb more than if you stick to ADC. (Also carring is not just "having a good kda").

DeathBurst1 votes

We're talking about getting out of Bronze. If you are something like Silver3-worth, you can carry out of Bronze even with a bad Support.

I really want to get out of bronze. Im tired of the afkers and trolls.

sorry even if you reach diamond you'll keep being matched with trolls and afk.

Ok so I play league everyday and im still hardstuck b2. I ask many people to coach but I still can't go beyond b2

Because you keep playing while you should trainning.

You CS is bad. Train your CS. Your builds are bad, check builts on OP.GG or ProBuild Your warding is bad. Train your warding.

Pick 2 or 3 champions and stop switching between 10 champions. You improve through regularity. Everytime you die, it's your fault. Ask yourself why you died, and do not make that mistake again.

Mokoro1 votes

ok thanks dude

I would mostly agree with Starcraft, but i am also going to go into more detail.

Before i begin, i am only b1. that is true. What is also true is that i have a 68% winrate with anivia,in over 70 games. so listen before you trash

Starcraft said to work on ur cs - u should do that. focus on farming in lane, rather than fighting. clean lanes are better than kill lanes, ive been told. when lategame come around, don't feel bad about pushing out top lane, and picking up 40 cs while ur there.

He also mentioned your builds - i've noticed that u don't vary it at all, between games or champions, and that u like bork a lot. that is understandable, bork is pretty cool, but not the best. for example, twitch uses mana out the butt, so maybe you should consider essence reaver. Cait, however, uses her crits to devestate everyone - Infinity Edge would make her 50% better at that. Things like that. And if your opponents have a fed anivia, maybe u should get mr boots, while if u are dominating, berserkers are fine. little stuff like that can help u.

and warding. idk what to say about this, really. slap ur wards in the bushes, and u shoudl be fine.

hope that helps.

Starcraft243ver1 votes

Agreed on quite everything but this.

twitch uses mana out the butt, so maybe you should consider essence reaver.

No please dont ever buy ER on twitch, twitch's spells are not that powerfull, everything comes from his Q and R. and he melts team quite easily just hit and running with runnan and botrk.

and if your opponents have a fed anivia, maybe u should get mr boots

I would rather take a malmortius as 4th/5th item then.

This is actually pretty accurate. Did this myself & I managed to climb to Gold for the first time since I started in 2014.

Have you tried listening? Coaches can talk as much as they want, but it isn't going to help you if you can't remember what they said a day later.

I did coaching for players between bronze-gold and it was so frustrating to get done telling someone something. Then the next day they send me a message asking about the exact topic we covered. Take notes if you can't take in an hour of information or record it.

Mokoro1 votes

That is true. But whata good carry role/champ that i can easily learn to climb out of bronze

nm10101 votes

You want the easy way? Go pick Annie mid, get at least 180 cs at 20 minutes. Ward so you don't die, congrats you can now kill most of the enemy team in one measly combo.

Runes are

9x Mpen reds 9x hp/lvl yellows 9x flat mr blues 3x flat ap quints

Masteries are 12/18 with thunderlords.

Build is item 3165 item 3020 item 3151 item 3116 item 3135 item 3089

Starcraft243ver1 votes

Actually build is more like : item 3673 item 3136 item 3020 item 3135 item 3165

If you want the buildpath. The fast 30 MR pen is quite cheesy but so deadly.

nm10101 votes

Cdr for farming, I don't trust any bronze player to carry a game pre 20 minutes. And I certainly expect them to be caught out multiple times thus the double hp item. That build is certainly better to snowball, I just think keeping things on the beginner level is a lot easier.

ya but annie is so squishy

If you want to climb, pick play makers or hard pushers. ADCs are to inbetween godlike or player minion status if you're going for the grind.

Out of all the roles I seem to be the best at adc.

Mechanic. Just learn your mechanic if you're stuck in bronze. If your mechanic is good enough you should easily be able to climb to at least silver. All those tips on learning where to ward or roaming is useless when you have no mechanic to outplay your opponent in the first place. Improve your mechanic and you'll eventually learn those game knowledge as you play.

Learn to getting used to press QWER so you don't freeze up in panic moment is so crucial. Constantly moving around instead of standing still will improve your chances of dodging skill shots and of course you need to learn to hit most of your skill shot as well.

DeathBurst1 votes

I strongly disagree. You don't need to outplay your opponents to get out of Bronze. You just need to play safe and be patient. If you get more items or a number advantage you don't need to outplay to win fights. But if he worked on his mechanic everything become a lot easier. It's also a skill that will carry you through silver and gold as well. It's easier to work on it now while in bronze than wait later on.

And just so you know, op.gg puts your MMR at Bronze 3. Try to lessen the amount of deaths you get.

Work on the basics. A lot of climbing from Bronze is about seizing opportunities the enemies offer up.

Pick a few champions and look up how to play them. And I mean like, watch all the how to videos on them. Caitlyn, for instance since she's your most played, can put out a lot of burst damage by comboing her abilities. Most Caitlyn players can do a EQ auto combo easily, but if you can master the EWQ combo, you can actually get 2 headshots off the net and trap triggering vs the one you'd get from just her net. That combo alone can chunk health bars and win 1v1. Anklespankin actually did a video showing this if you just watch the first like 2 minutes of his video he explains this combo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmEW6_xny-4&t=1508s

Look up how to build your champions. Bork is almost never bought on Caitlyn. The main reason is that the Bork's active is smaller than her attack range (Bork is 550, hers is 650), meaning that if you are playing Caitlyn properly and staying at max range, you should never be in range to use it. Obviously you have divers and people with gapclosers that throw this off and then Bork's active can help you kite them easier, but in most instances your range is what makes Caitlyn great, so walking into range to use that active is kinda defeating the purpose of Caitlyn. I would never rush this item and only really get it if the enemy team has multiple high health stackers like a Shen top and Maokai jungle. IE and Shiv are so much more important since her headshots are her main source of damage early game, and both increase her headshot damage immensely.

Learn to farm well. Literally, if you do nothing but out farm your opponent, you can win games. Farm is the consistent income in games, whereas kill gold can vary from game to game. If you can make sure not to miss the consistent gold that wanders into your lane, you'll have a ton of gold compared to your enemy.

Don't play for kills, play for objectives. KDA means nothings. You can literally go into a bot game yourself right now, poke the enemy bots out of lane constantly, take towers, and win the game with a 0/0/0 KDA. If you look at LCS games, you can see that their scores are normally like 10 kills in the whole game, whereas my Silver games tend to be something like 30-50 kills a game. Again, kills are inconsistent gold, don't rely on them. However, the dragon, baron/rift herald, and towers on the map are always on the map. Baron and rift take towers easier, mountain drake takes towers/dragon/baron/rift easier. See how many things want to help your take towers? This is why towers should be your focus, not the kills. This also means that if you are getting kills and not getting objectives when the enemy is dead, you are doing it wrong. The point of killing the enemy is that no one is there to contest. Who's going to take a dragon if no one on the enemy team is alive? Or stop you from taking towers? I mean, in a bot game you can solo dragon as an ADC with like Dorans blade, BF sword, and a Zeal item. You'll be at like 100 hp in the end, but you can do it. I would never risk that in a ranked game cause I know the enemy might wander by and steal it and get a free kill, but I know bots won't.

Learn to read minion waves. Look up SoloRenektonOnly who can explain this a lot better than I can. The minions can be odd at times, but they do have a pattern. Go into a practice game and look at this. Split lane down river, if an even minion wave (same number of minions on your side and their side) meets on your side of the river, regardless of what you do to that wave, it will push to the enemy side. Same for if it meets on the enemies side, it will push to you. Now, it may take like 5 minutes to push, but it will push regardless of what the enemy does. Use this to your advantage. If it will take 5 minutes to push (known as a slow push), that means you have 5 minutes you can do something else on the map besides being in your lane, but you (or your team) must return after those 5 minutes so as not to lose exp, gold, and take tower damage. If an enemy champion comes and helps kill your ally minions, then it will fast push and that means you need to be there to collect the wave so as not to lose exp, gold, and take tower damage.

Personally, I'd recommend playing a few games of each support so you understand how to play your allies role and understand what those champions do. For example, Karma's RW heals her for 20% of her missing health instantly and 20% again when it roots. With this, a Karma can bait really well and us it to heal herself. It always works on epic monsters so I personally use it to tank Dragon/Rift/Baron along with her shield if we have a team comp with no tank. Lulu's W offers an attack speed buff as well as a movement speed buff, plus her shield offers on hit damage to whoever the shield is on. So a good Lulu can put a shield on her ADC and speed them up, giving them a ton of seemingly random damage in a fight, especially on an attack speed champ like Kog or Twitch who might not be strong early. If you know how a support champ should be played, then you'll be able to recognize when a support isn't playing right and be able to decide whether you want to trust them or not.

Another thing is play some custom games vs bots where it's a 4v5 or even a 3v5. If you can learn to dodge skill shots and kite better, it'll help you against players. Granted, bots are predictable and you can abuse them, but they are merciless if they see a numbers advantage for them. This helps teach you to out macro the enemy and focus objectives. Obviously bots can also teach you bad habits if you play too many games, but you can also learn to play from behind.

Wow thanks but quick question. I get botrk for the sustain/lifesteal. If u dont get botrk on caitlyn. What do u get then. Whats the bets build for her in ur opinion

DemainaNyx1 votes

For Caitlyn, I normally get Bloodthirster but I wait till like my 5th or 6th item to get it. Since I get it so late into my build, I'll take Warlord's Bloodlust as my Keystone.

Most Caitlyns tend to build item 3031 item 3087 item 3094 item 3036 item 3072 item 3006

If you check out Probuilds.net for Caitlyn, they tend to get item 3139 but that's more cause it breaks you out of CC, gives you a speed burst, provides lifesteal, and is an MR item. But you do see the occasional item 3072 and item 3153 and sometimes just item 3156 , so obviously it depends on the game. If the enemy team doesn't have CC, which tends to happen in low elo, getting item 3139 is sorta wasting gold.

Is there a reason you get Botrk so early? Are you getting it vs poke lanes or just getting it all the time for your lifesteal item?

  1. I'd just like to add, since nobody else has mentioned it, LOOK AT THE MINIMAP. If you haven't looked at the minimap in 10 seconds then it's probably been too long. Here's an alternative way to climb out of bronze from bronze 5:

1- Play MasterYi in the jungle. 2- /fullmute all as soon as the game starts. 3- power farm till you have zeal item (PD or shiv) > IE > zeal (no jungle item, get t1 boots only) and gank overextended lanes only if you know you can carry ganks all by your own, don't ever bother with drakes unless they're infernal; remember league is a 1v9 game not 5v5. 4- At some point a laner (typically a top laner) will either afk or int feed/troll, let's assume it's your top laner: keep farming top side jungle/lane waves as well as the enemy bronze top laner whenever he pushes, couple minutes later you'll be anywhere between 2-4 lvls ahead of everyone and 100 CS ahead. 5. Once you have 3 crit items + lifesteal component and/or qss keep split pushing top (or bot) and force 1v3s. 6. type "mechanics" in /all chat after u get the triple kill then "GG EZ" after the enemy ff votes come out.

Yasuo also works very well in any lane if you're experienced with the champ but he's likely to be permabanned in bronze.

Everyone giving the guy advice probably hasn't noticed, but he clearly hasn't come close to understanding the game with only 200 bronze games. People need to realize that there is no "easy" way to climb. The entire process is a grind, I can tell you what to do to climb but even then it might be difficult to do it.

Things come naturally, over time, so my advice, keep playing. Took me about 400 games to get out of bronze, it might take you the same.
