Crit Marks (and the problems they produce)

TL;DR at bottom of post

I know that there is currently a large discussion on critical chance. I recently played a game vs a Gangplank. I was winning a lvl 3 dual, however he got two crits off almost in a row. Normally this would not be a big deal if it were not been for the fact that his only crit chance came from one single crit chance mark. A 1% chance to crit won a fight.

So whats the big deal? He just got lucky? While yes that is true it still does not make this "strategy" something that is healthy to LOL. He gave up 1 AD mark for the chance to get lucky and win a fight he "shouldn't" have won. There was no skill in what he did, and that is what needs to change. When you are fighting and ADC with a 25% chance to crit you can count on those crits, you can see kind of damage is coming your way how often.

So what to do about it? I think the first thing that needs to change or be added is "minimum crit chance." Let me explain. The smallest amount of crit you can get from an item is 8%. Even with this small of a chance you can still guesstimate how often someone will crit. So to fix the 1 crit mark builds make a Minimum crit chance level. Only let crits start to proc once someone has 5% chance to crit. This would require someone to run 5 crit marks to proc a crit. Giving up 5 AD for that is something someone would have to really think about before putting into their build.

I'm not sure how well it would work but it seems like it would be a nice band-aid for level 1 crit chance procs.

TL;DR Make crit chance only start to proc after a champ has more than 5% crit chance.

No, just completely remove crit.

not a troll, crit isnt good for this game. its hard to balance with something that is complete luck, and crit will always be either too strong or too weak.

or at least, put in dodge again to compensate with crit being in here.

but honestly, if they remove crit, just make some items to replace them and bam. balanced.

If you force it to start at 5% then it's not really any percent if it's below 5 is it?

As unfair as you think it is, that's how the game goes. It isn't always based on skill. Sometimes you just get lucky, like whoever you're talking about.

completely disagree with everything on this thread about critical chance. As an adc main, critical chance is a huge part of the game. I get that you're frustrated that 1% caused you to lose the fight, but losing a close fight is the game. Your extra AD gave you the advantage not just in the rest of the fight but also in your farm and harass. Further, but entering a close duel where crit made the difference, you left yourself subject to a jungle gal, support entering, and much more. If those happened you wouldn't complain, yet they have the same result (just are a result of skill). Either way, odds say you'll beat the crit chance strategy more often than not, so it benefits you in the long run. perhaps he would have juked you had he not made the crits?

i think crit should be doubled on everyone, and quadrupled on yasuo
