I used to look forward to events bc of the chance I could get a free skin. Now I look forward to it just to be able to afford a new champ. Otherwise I'd be stuck grinding for a month to get a champ I wanted to learn.

If you want to try a new champion, you can always make a brand new account, after the tutorial and one bot game you'll have like 6500 BE, you can then screw around with them for a bit and see if you like them
If you don't, it's 1 hour of time versus a month of grinding.
To add to your point though, I hate how events are like, get keys, or get borders. Through in some ward skins and shit like Odyssey and Project. Events now are just, play Soraka or play 7 games, play Karma, or play 7 games. Like they aren't even missions anymore.
Like free stuff is free stuff, I get it, not trying to be a choosing beggar here, but like, events really had more feel in the past. We've had like 4 "plays X games get X tokens get X key shards" "events" this past year, and they all give the same shit. I forget an events is even going on half the time.
I only play like 10 champs but I do that too rofl, half of the champs I own are like 0 mastery lmao, plus a bunch of others at lvls 1-3 xD Also, it's the only time I ever use my other accounts lol.
