The "risk and reward" we all want for Zed

I have seen a number of players refer to Zed as a "safe" assassin, due his the ability to R onto someone, and then blink back to his R shadow after a short delay. That being said, what if they made his return blink conditional? In order to return to his R shadow, Zed must achieve a death mark indicator on the champion he R'd.

I don't think this would change how zed plays, but it would change how much zed has to think before ulting. If his_ target_ makes the right defensive choices, Zed has no escape.

Does this offer the right counter-play?

IDK why yall keep trying to balance Assassins around 'risk vs reward' when that's really just an euphemism for 'feast or famine'. If Riot really implemented this change, Zed would either become unplayable or they would buff Zed, lowering his skill floor to below that of Graves.

Zed is probably one of the healthiest Assassin League has, but the side effect is he's also one of the few Assassins' that's actually viable so he gets a disproportionate amount of hate. If you bring back true 'risk vs reward' Assassins like Shaco and Talon into viability then everybody would be screaming bloody murder within a day.

Nobody likes playing vs Assassins, but tons of people like playing as Assassins, so the goal is to find a compromise where both sides get to have a little bit of fun. Changes like this don't do anything to assist that.

That wouldn't change a thing. It's not his Ult that is the Problem. It's his way too safe laning phase with mage-like (dmg wise) poke.

I'd like to know what actually IS Zed's counterplay, while we're on the subject? Every single game I see him, whether he's a decent or bad player, he snowballs regardless. This isn't an exaggeration either. The window of opportunity you can actually catch Zed is essentially nonexistent unless he really messes up. His gap closer/return is just way too reliable and he can deal tons of damage in its duration. I don't see where the risk in playing him is. I just don't see it. I don't see it. Explain it to me.

I'd say if u want a riskier champion and a more satisfying kills, try talon, you go in, kill either you die or get out with 100 HP, unless their dead
