When should I start PVP?

Hello ^^

I am new to LoL, and loving it! I played it for about 2 weeks or so, and practicing against beginner bots. Currently lvl. 14. I usually get around 10+ kills, sometimes under 10 if my allies are advanced players, and order me to stay in the back and killing everyone... (what are they doing fighting beginner bots -_-) And around 3 deaths, and LOTS of support (even with ADC lmao).

I prefer using a ranged ADC unit and going bottom lane.

On PVP, will I be matched somebody my level? I don't feel like playing against highly skilled players...

In your opinion, when would I be ready to PVP?

Thanks for your answer!! :)

Go into intermediate bots before and make sure you destroy those as well. Then you can go into normal games but do not despair if people are dicks or you have a bad score. Shit happens, and you got to focus on what you can do and positive stuff.

8: Practice last-hitting minions.

This is far more important than you likely realize CLimlmao. This is your main source of gold, above even kills majority of the time. Also remember that you don't have to be constantly attacking the minions to kill them; you can wait until your minions have nearly killed the enemy minions and then kill them.

Was gonna leave a reply to the OP, but you covered everything I would have, and probably in fewer words. Good advice!

Wow that was very helpful :) thank you very much! I might probably start pvping after practicing last hit on intermediate bots, then mentally preparing myself for the real game ^^ Thanks again, really appreciate the time you took!! <3

Before entering PvP make sure you mentally prepare yourself to get Cancer and Aids. At your level you will get matched with the lowest kind of League Players. They are so toxic that you wish you never had started playing league. (Also in some cases you will get matched with premades who have atleast Diamond players on the enemy Team)

Your 10/3 kd will turn into 1/10 in PvP. But you have to resist the urge to type in chat, cause they will bait ban you. If you spend any Money so far, refund it.

Trust me i have wasted 2638h or 209Days playing this shitty Game

Honestly, no matter how long you wait to get into PVP you're going to get smashed. I got smashed. My friends got smashed. Pretty sure everyone got smashed.

The best thing you can do is get into a game, try your best and learn how the game works.

You will most likely feed, but its the only way you can improve.

Get past the hard part to get to the good part.

Thanks for the advice! I played a pvp match once, and yeah, I got crushed and fed onto the enemy's team, due to my lack of experience and my computer's lag (mostly my lack of experience obviously haha), and dragged down my team. I guess I cannot let that prevent me from pvping again, as we all have to start off somewhere to get to the top. :)

Find a few champions you're comfortable with, and then start playing PvP soon. When I first got into LoL, I spend around 2-3 years only playing bots, because I was afraid of the toxicity everyone kept talking about. The first week in PvP I learned so much more than 3 years of playing bots. I regret not starting to PvP sooner.

The AI of bots isn't really that good. You can easily bait them into overextending and subsequently kill them. It will lead to learning the game wrong, because things like that don't happen in PvP, so it gives a false sense of how good you are. This also means you will develop a relatively aggressive playstay, which is generally not so good when you're new to PvP. I'd suggest to play safe during your first few games, and then you can become increasingly more aggressive, until you have found yourself a good balance. That said, bots are great to try out different champions, so you can get a feel for their abilities and general power curve.

Also, people just love to talk about how toxic the community is, but don't let this bother you! It was the reason I refrained from playing PvP for so long. Once I start PvP'ing, I barely noticed any of the toxicity that everyone kept complaining about. It's mostly just a hyperbole.

Final note, if you have a friend to play with you can try to form a botlane ADC/support duo. It may make the game a lot more fun.

And remember, most important of all is to have fun!

Thanks for the advice! It's about a month I played LoL, and I definitely agree that pvp can teach you at a much faster rate! Since I'm a little scared that I will bring down the whole team, maybe I will have couple friends with me (they are beginners too like me) :) [slayer-jinx-wink]

Once you can defeat "intermediate" bots with less than 3 deaths and more than 100 CS it's time to buckle up and play against real people.

TempName748141 votes

by that point they will have broken "smurf protection" and get beaten by even the bronziest of bronze smurfs because they have no actual understanding of the game beyond "click, press button, kill, run down lane"

you start pvp as soon as pvp unlocks...

I'd personally wait until you're at least level 20. As several people have said you will be with people who are toxic, so at the beginning of the game type something on the lines of "new to the game so sorry if I feed." in my experience most people will then respond with something like "np it's only normals" and you've set their expectations for the game so they have no reason to complain (this won't stop some of them but that's what mute is for :P). You WILL feed. This is not a question of if, its a question of when. You're new to a game that has a lot of combining factors to it, the biggest of which is mentality. I've had an open nexus before and still won because my enemy team were toxic to each other. Set your aim for the game at something like "I will get a kill/assist for every 2 times i die" and you should be ok. Then you can aim to improve on it. Watch some videos of players playing your champ and look at where they ward. There's no doubt some kind of adc's guide to warding on youtube and trust me when I say it'll save your life more often than your random support. Good luck and don't let the tilt get to you. Yes you're a noob, but you won't always be!

Thanks a lot :) I fed my 1st pvp game and felt so bad that I dragged down the entire team lmao That totally prevented me from going back to pvp haha I feel lot better, that feeding the first few games is normal and it should not be a reason to stay away from pvp. Really appreciate the advice <3

No worries. It's completed normal, even when you've been playing PvP for years, to feed when playing something new; whether it be a champion you aren't used to, a lane you don't know, or even a matchup you've never come across before. It's why when a new champion comes out everyone cries they're OP. It's not that they're OP, it's just they have no idea how to fight them. Never feel bad for learning, and always do your learning outside of ranked :P

Start off w/ normals when you are ready to pvp. I would suggest intermediate bots though as beginner bots are worse than any players I have seen to date in league. Once intermediate bots don't give you a challenge, start to play normals. While you are playing bot games, since you like adc, practice your csing. normally 50-60 cs by 10 minutes is pretty bad and you should really be aiming for 80-90 cs by the 10 minute mark. Once you can do that, you will have a pretty good idea of what to do and will be ready for all the other things you have to watch for when playing pvp, like objectives and jungler ganks/location. Enjoy League..

Well if you want results, practice CSing and to get over 5 CS per min (so 150+ CS by 30 minutes) if you can't already, on top of getting 3 or less deaths and several kills. Also if your team is playing well try to end before 30 minutes by killing your bot lane, destroying the tower there, then destroying mid tower and pushing lane as much as possible.

But imo the right answer is "when you get bored of bots in general". You can seriously just play LoL PvE for fun, and being unskilled isn't illegal if you go PvP the moment it's possible but have 0 skills. Anyways spending too much time playing bots can make you develop bad habits that work in bots but fail terribly in PvP, best way to learn is on the job :p

Has it ever happened to you that you go swimming with your friends and the water is cold, so you hesitate to go in, and they just tell you to jump right in instead of going in slowly, step by step? Same thing here - queue up and get started, just like that. No need to tiptoe. You'll usually be matched with players of a similar skill level to yours, so it's probably not gonna take long to adjust.

And those experienced players you see in bot games - they're probably just getting that First Win of the Day mission done.

Also, don't hesitate to mute anyone who's making an ass of themselves by blaming and insulting others in chat, spam-pinging or whatever. You may think it's better not to limit communication with your team mates, but these types of people generally won't tell you anything useful anyway.

Start it ASAP you will get stomped at first but it is by far the quickest and best way to learn the game

PookíeChips1 votes

Hop to pvp when you get to level 3, it's the only way you will get better! you will learn from better players alot. so don't waste your time in bots just go pvp, you will feed first few games but you will get better and better!

Despìca Bìll1 votes

It's cool that you asked this. If most people who play League had done the kind of research you're doing, it'd be a much better place. @Almighty already gave all the advice I would've given. Good luck, and kick ass!

TempName748141 votes

as soon as you can. only smurfs encounter smurf-infested low level games. the MMR (match making rating) system is quite effective. i've introduced 2 friends to league. with one, i played with them. we encountered loads of smurfs and he did not have a good time. he stopped playing. other friend played on their own while i watched and we took turns on the computer. everyone was entirely incompetent and having fun. just hop into pvp dude

if you wait too long, you'll break the "smurf protection" while still being on the skill level and game understanding of a new player, and you'll just get frustrated by pvp.

the only things bots teach you are bare champion control fundamentals and strategies that will never work in real games. i.e. going behind the enemy turret to get first blood, taking 2 turrets to pull all 5 enemies to one lane, then teleporting to another and pushing that, etc.

Prison AnaI1 votes

literally as soon as you can you should be playing pvp, bots really doesnt do much for you

Elkington VI1 votes

Whenever you hit lvl 30 imo. You'll be queued up with nothing but potatoes and smurfs until that point (or forever if you don't improve for whatever reason).
