In promos to Gold 5, (Pretty low yeah I know) and everything pre promos was leading up fine. Games were smooth as usual. What I did notice is that once I began my promos, I've gotten paired up with one bronze, one afk and one unranked. Seems this matchmaking is a tad off considering I should be getting Silver 1 - Gold 4 players at my rank (S1)
Deep Terror Nami1 votesMatchmaking is not based on Rank, but on MMR. A Bronze can have high enough MMR to see lots of Golds (of average MMR) and a Gold can have low enough MMR to see lots of Bronzes (of average MMR). Current ranking is a very superficial and loose representation of someone's skill.
Basically, you may be seeing those people more than the Golds you expect because your MMR is low. If you are winning less LP than you lose per game, it's definitely low.

Let people see their MMR (or something that represent it), they will be less frustrated and suggest more pertinent ideas about how to improve matchmaking just because they will have a better understanding of its internals. Also, LP gains are really a statistic that's missing in Ranked (only) Match History, it could be the proof that matchmaking is just working as intended and lead to less frustration and less out and in-game rage.
