Riot where is this heading?

So I just finished reading surrender @ 20 and I'm really confused. Its not like I didn't understand what is being changed and added to the game but I'm not so sure why riot is changing so much in this game. I've played this game since the end of season 2 and this game has changed SO much. To me, it seems that this game is being more and more geared towards competitive play. With the new idea of a mini baron(not sure if that's the right name) I ligit am confused on where you guys are taking this game. I'm not saying you are doing any thing wrong, I'm just not understanding the reasoning for some of these changes and reworks.
