Is Vel'Koz even good anymore?
My most recent games I've played as
I ended up losing. I need to know a good, updated build for
and if he is even worth playing as anymore.

Then sell
and get a new AP item or finish it into a
this is almost the build i use, but instead of
i go
He is still good, and he will probably get a bit more play once the mid-season hits and tanks start to be more common since he has true damage. Right now though he is still good but some match ups are a bit to rough for him. I'm not really a Vel'koz main but he is my 2nd best Mid laner which I have him at Rank 6 with almost 60k Mastery points I think.
As for the build, I'd do something like
That is my general build but if the enemy team has to many tanks then I'll some times swap out
for
He has crazy support carry potential.
I picked up Vel'Koz a couple of months ago if I'm not mistaken and since then until now I've felt that he was in a good position.
Since I go support, here's what I usually get (in order.)
First, you start of with
.
Then on you try to get
ASAP, or at least get
.
Then you get
and if you haven't finished
yet then finish it after.
Next get boots of your choice and get
. If you need it for earlier some reason you can also get
next instead of
(don't forget to build it later though.)
Then you can build in any order you want for the last for items, which are
and
, I usually build
then
but if they have a lot of MR you can get
.
As you can see, it's the staple Vel'Koz build but unlike mid it uses
instead of
. Late game though, should you desire it, you can sell the
to buy
.
The full build would look like this:
and obviouslly once you finish all your items you want a
up at all times (if you have the money for it.)
You can also use
which I sometimes replace
with.
Also, don't forget to buy and use control wards!
solid 8/10, not the best, but he doesn't have too many terrible matchups. great in nearly all team comps. tons of build diversity. and comes with true damage.
what really separates the good vels from the bad ones is their capacity to land skill shots, you either do or you dont.
I play him as support and usually do really well, but I am also a PhD in mathematics so...
