My 2 Cents on the Current State of the Game, with Solutions.

In this post, I will cover the most primary gameplay issues as of right now, and then offer a solution based on my thoughts. If you find this insightful, please upvote; I want as much feedback on this post as possible.

DISCLAIMER!: I am aware that this is a long post, so I tried to keep it as succinct as possible. If you want, feel free to skip around.

Bottom Lane

Right now, bottom lane is entirely to snowbally. One death from a gank means that you lost your lane entirely already. This is due to two issues; the weakness of ADC's (which I will discuss next), and towers.

While the first tower blood was a very effective esports solution, it completely shifts A LOT of focus onto the bottom lane. The tower does little to no damage, which makes early dives very easy, and has little to no health. This means that for one successful (and often inescapable) gank/dive, a team can get Dragon, a tower, 400 gold, all the local gold, kill gold, and a severe cut in the enemy ADC's ability to farm. This is FAR too much reward for a relatively easy and common play.

Solution: Make bottom tower stronger than solo lane towers, so that enemies must at least choose between Dragon and Tower after a gank, and to make ganks and dives less free.

ADC's

ADC's right now are pretty bad. A few days ago on Reddit, someone uploaded a video clip of a Poppy fighting a Draven with just a item 3068. That Poppy took 34 autoes to kill. While this is partially because of Poppy being Poppy, it is absurd.

The problem is easily traced back to the removal of Armor Pen as an ADC stat. This, while quite healthy for the game, had unanticipated effects in that armor became simply overpowered. Every tank built armor, every ADC built Armor Pen. Armor pen was removed, tipping the scales heavily in armor's favor. This is reflected by the extreme popularity of item 3071 on ADC's, which is the only viable Armor Pen rush item with few exceptions.

Solution: Make armor a less ubiquitous stat. Right now, if you need magic resist, you must choose specific items to get that Resist. All the generic, "default" tank items have armor built in, making it far to easy to get without giving anything up like with MR. item 3068 is the biggest culprit of this. Giving these items more Health and less Armor will not only help this, but also aid in boosting the viablility of item 3153/item 1416.

Top Lane

This biggest issue of top lane right now is simply lack of interest. Top laners, especially when behind, offer little to the team overall. This is because the inviability of Rift Herald leaves solo kills and the Tower as the only objective. Thus strong duelists (cough Camille cough [This is really the only reason for her being OP, her archetype exactly coincides with the Top lane Meta.]) easily dominate.

Solution: The only way Rift Herald will ever get close to Dragon as an objective is to make it a team buff, which will also help to divert attention away from the bottom lane. I would recommend turning it into an early game Baron buff (like it was before!) to counteract the scaling power of Dragons and to present a better option for early game comps focused on pushing. Also, make it not take 3.5 seasons to kill.

Courage of the Colossus

Ahh, Courage of the Colossus. The one size fits all mastery. Actually, that is exactly the problem, and why Grasp and Bond simply aren't as good. Grasp is a strong laning mastery, but does little late game. Bond has medium power throughout the game. Courage, however, has a constant high power. It makes both lane trades and teamfights a breeze. There is literally no downside to this mastery.

Solution: Give Courage of the Colossus a parabolic scaling. In other words, with one champ, it might give only 4% Max HP shield; with two champs, 6%, with three, 10%, then 17% with four, up to 25% with five enemy champions. Similar numbers would give it a little laning power while giving it a more teamfight focus.

Thanks for Reading! Let me know what you think.

Draven's dps is significantly lower if he's not juggling axes, so yeah not impressed with that example.

Can I add to note that Attack Damage Carries have been so bad that Ziggs is walking around Bot with item 3100 as a must pick, this is really making Attack Damage Carries becoming terrible like Pre-Reworked Yorick and this honestly makes me shocked. Assassin Rework, Tank Meta, and Champion Buffs/Nerfs have been gutting and beating the everlasting hell out of Attack Damage Carries like Gragas Mid. A moment of silence for all Attack Damage Carries right now being stomped on by Assassins.
