Support Items + Sightstone

What if they just merged sight stone into the current support items?

Level 1 support items have 1 Charge Level 2 support items have 3 Charges Level 3 Support Items have 5 Charges

I know this would mess up the actives on them currently, which are nice actives, but i'd rather have the item slot open.

I think if this was done correctly it would have a two pronged effect.

Supports would save a slot / be able to get to items quicker which is awesome.

You could delete sight stone which would in turn nerf Lee Sin indirectly.

Instead of removing the support item actives, what if each level of support item had an effect on trinkets? The warding trinket would end up acting like a sightstone, and the other two would gain additional effects.

I think that would make warding totem mandatory on all supports though. You wouldnt be able to clear wards as well so you might end up buying a lot more pinks.

I feel like this reductionism view undermines the fundamental importance of warding/vision and forcing supports to buy sightstone equivalence to finish their support item feels oppressive, sightstone deserves it's own item slot to underscore the importance of vision, though some next tier utility upgrades to sightstone are more than likely in order.

Eh, the loss of my active items, even if it would mean the creation of new items, would mean that I would generally still be in the same situation, I'd max the gold item of my choice and then I'd more alone to the item with the active I wanted (most likely the equivalent of Talisman).

I'd be much more interested in the tier two of the Yellow and Blue gold item lines be looked at again, moreso Frostfang of the blue line. I find myself not needing to upgrade it at all, and I've actually seen the boards give advice along the lines of "get Spellthief's Edge, but just sit on it and proc it all the time and buy Talisman once you get enough gold for it" and I honestly can't say this isn't a bad idea.
