9-1 placement record, placed BRONZE 5

so i know a lot of people are unhappy with thier results, but i feel my case is a little special. i was S5 end of season 5, dropped to b2 during preseason. but then plaements are here, and i amp my game up, i played consistently, and carried most of my games, scoring avg A+ every game. i went 9-1 and when the rank unlocked i saw it was bronze, and my stomach sank so hard it hurt, then i saw it said 5. bronze 5. the bottom of the ladder. i almost threw up it hurt so bad. if this isnt a mistake in the system, i dont know what to say. at the moment i have no desire to play. i tried so hard during placements, playing at my best for almost all 10 games. i score almost perfect, and was rewarded with literally the biggest punishment possible. so if this inst fixed, i really am done with league of legends, i cant take this anymore. the worst part is i have hundreds of dollars in skins on my account. i am utterly defeated by you riot. you have crushed me. congratulations.

I would pay a few thousand RP to get my account's mmr set to bronze V level.

I AM INTENSELY CURIOUS. I just can't bring myself to tank games intentionally. But I want to try it ;_; I tried dodging placements on a smurf and it didn't work.

A (long) while ago I switched servers and it put me in bronze II, and those were some of the most amazing games I had ever seen. And that's high bronze. By the time I came back I was gold IV and that's when I decided to broaden the ol' pool a bit. I fully expect to hit low silver regardless of my performance once I kick that off, and slog through the land of salt and smurfs for a shitty victorious skin I'll never use one more time. If I'm going to grind through shit either way I might as well have some of the matches be fun, right?

Of course Riot has fucked up once again with ranked by crippling most of the playerbase like this, but once you've been to this rodeo a few times you'll realize that none of them have any real idea what they're doing. But look on the bright side- in bronze II you can do -whatever the fuck you want- and as long as you don't die you'll be fine. You won't win every game, but that's because you're laughing too hard. Bronze V must be some kind of magical land where elo rains from the heavens and literally anything is possible.

Literally everone dropped, so just because your bronze 5 doesn't mean you are playing with actual bronze 5 players.. You Are Not Alone!. And placements don't matter, Riot just says they do as a way to keep ppl from trolling them. inb4downvotes.

I went 8-2 finished my last season silver 2, and i got placed into bronze 1. I dont understand this game.

I dont want to hear what anyone has to say, I single-handedly carried 7 straight games with Draven with outstanding stats and got B5 lawl what a joke.. I shouldve just trolled every game

Same score, 9-1 Bronze 1 and I was Bronze 1 in my placements last season, but I climbed to Silver 3 towards the end. Once in bronze, always bronze.

This might be the reason, the game usually drops you lower than your previous rank when they reset. atleast iirc

I went from high plat to silver 4 after gojng 7-3. I'm diamond 5 almost diamond 4 now. If you are good at the game iy should only take you a few days to get to where ypu were before.

Have you played any games since placements? You might find you're getting 25+ LP per win, so will be able to climb super quickly.

What were you doing during those matches?

I think they take warding, KDA, CS score, and some other factors in rather than just your score wins.

I feel you. I recently got my brother to start playing with me. We went 7-3 in his placements and he got placed B5... I'm 1 rank away from Gold so now i wont be able to play with him for long, because of the "1 tier" rule.. Whats the point of going 7-3 if you get the last ranking possible?? what the difference between going 1-9 and 7-3, if no matter what you will be placed bronze 5... Doesn't make much sense IMO.

I can sort of explain this for you, when you do placements it uses what I like to call "Last day mmr." This means the last day of preseason where your mmr stands is what you will start placements with, I don't know if you understand the system yet or know how it works but if you drop tiers (g5 - s1 s5-b1) etc that means your mmr dropped a full tier lower than you were at meaning, you dropped from s5 to b2 so your mmr reached b5 for you to get demoted from s5, your mmr doesn't pause when you get your season rewards. If you went 9-1 and got b5 that means your mmr was so abysmally low that it's going to take alot of consistent winning to get your mmr back up.

All i can tell you is don't stop trying during preseason because it will come back to haunt you.

Hey man sorry to hear all that, that DOES seem a little crazy.

The only logical explanation I can give you is that your placement is based off of your hidden MMR (not your current/previous rankings) although NORMALLY your current/previous rank reflects the hidden MMR pretty closely - perhaps it was significantly lower than your rank of S5 last season somehow

Edit: PS to tell where your hidden MMR is -- if it's at a B5 level you'll be getting roughly +/- 20 LP. If your MMR is higher you'll get more than 20 per win and less than 20 per loss (so it kind of forces you to climb).

The only thing i can think of is that your MMR is quite low. You said yourself you dropped to bronze 2 during the preseason, your MMR would have also dropped drastically. That being said, I don't see how someone could win 9 games and be placed in the lowest rank. I've seen too many of these posts recently, and think something might be wrong. Even if your MMR is much lower, winning 9 placements should at the very least put you in the third division of whichever division is below yours. I've won 4 of my placements so far, but I'm genuinely concerned about what will happen now.

On the other hand, it's not a reason to quit league. Especially if you have so much money invested in it. You have a valid point, but then you mess it up by adding the typical "fix this or I'm done with league rito" that makes it a qq thread.
