Riot offers no one an apology. I think ARURF did things way better than regular URF ever did. I saw champs I've never seen before in URF, and I've gotten OP URF champs and non-OP URF champs, and every game has actually been fun, even the losses, because it's never been so incredibly one sided like normal URF is.
Normal URF was more of a failure because it created a "be this or counter this" scenario, which leads to incredible stagnation and has seen lesser games fall to ruin. There wasn't a single game in Normal URF that I played where Evelynn, Katarina, Urgot, Riven, Wukong, or Fizz weren't together dominating and utterly destroying one side of the game. You weren't allowed to pick fun, silly champs you might just want to enjoy, because some god awful tryhard was trying to wreck everyone he was up against with his team of nothing but OP URF champs. It was horrible, and it was only enjoyable to those who did nothing but played those champs with the sole purpose of wrecking everyone else.
ARURF, contrarily, removed this scenario. You may get one of them on a team now and again, but you usually had some way to compete against them. The games are actually nail biters and no longer expressly determined by champion select. You actually get to play champs you'd never think to take to URF, and you won't actually lose the game because of it, like you would in normal URF. This mode is infinitely better than normal URF, and the people who nay-say it are only those who would try to exploit the stagnant meta of normal URF for easy wins.
