If Irelia lands her R, your dead

Posterized··2 votes·2,018 views

and you cant avoid her R unless you flash. And because its a quick release your probs not going to be able to flash her R and thats if you have flash anyways.

how the fuck do you avoid this bullshit champion.

she lands R, then stuns you, and then your dead.

Gotta love those 5 movement speed nerfs.

Dodge the stun, and the ultimate's damage isn't all that much all things considered, if you dodge the stun, you eat up a massive amount of her trading potential.

Looks normal to me, Bruisers with Assassins level of damage.

FOR JUSTICE2 votes

in all fairness, a lot of champions ulting you is pretty much instant/guaranteed death.

Okay, so when Darius just ults you you take...barely any Damage, is that an instant death?

Chembaron Yamada1 votes

To be fair: If Irelia just ults you then you are not dead at all, too. She has to Q you multiple times to get meaningful damage done, the ult basically just serves as a tool to get resets for it.

What FOR JUSTICE probably meant is that many champions can guarantee a kill with their ultimate if executed correctly with the rest of their kit.

Urgot ult all by itself will definitely not kill you. If he engages on you and times his ultimate correctly when you are going below the threshold, then yeah, you are dead. Same for Rek'Sai, Pyke, Zed, and many others on that list.

So the Ultimate does what an Ultimate should do, right? I don't have Problems dying from a Darius Ult, because he used his Kit and got his Stacks off so he can finish me with his Ultimate.

Yes, it does what it is supposed to. And I actually don't agree with OP about Irelias ult.

Her mobility in team fight situation might be a bit overbearing when she uses it, but many ults are supposed to be game changing, so whatever. And ever since they made her W taking full magic damage, I don't really mind her that much anymore. She is mostly a counterpick for AD champions now.

Literally all of the champions you listed have some pretty obvious forms of counterplay.

Ashe - Let your tank eat the arrow or dodge it since it's fairly slow moving. QSS.

Brand - Stay away from your teammates and minions. One person can carry the Pyroclasm away from everyone else if they're fast enough.

Darius - Don't let him get 5 stacks on someone or CC + disengage until his ultimate runs out. After level 16, CC him and/or build health.

Evelynn - Build MR and/or stay out of melee range. Have someone cover the backline so you can see what angles she's coming from and stay at mid to high HP.

Fizz- Dodge it, buy MR, let your tank eat the ultimate, stay away from the person being ulted, or use stasis. Very telegraphed.

Jarvan - Any sort of dash or blink. Ornn can also destroy his ult IIRC.

Karthus - MR, CC him if he's in vision, Zhonya's (Zhonya's CD is lower than Karthus' ultimate CD), or Edge of Night. Alternatively, heal and shield your way out of it since it will usually never do more than 1k (and that's in a best case scenario.

Lux - Dodge it and/or buy MR. Don't get rooted.

Malzahar - QSS or cleanse.

Nocturne - Stay out of vision and buy armor. His ultimate doesn't do that much damage, anyway.

Pyke - Literally any dash or heal. Stasis works well too. Kayle and Zilean ultimates can bait him really heavily as well.

Rek'sai - Armor, back off into your team.

Rengar - Back off into your team, armor, stasis, stay grouped up around your ADC or carry.

Sejuani - QSS, dodge it, let your tank facetank it.

Skarner - Don't let him get close. Displace him out of his ultimate, CC him so he can't drag the target away.

Talon - Stay grouped up around your ADC, armor, shields/heals.

Urgot - Bodyblock the ultimate, heal, stasis. IIRC QSS still works.

Varus - Bodyblock and back away from the initial target. QSS.

Veigar - Stay at high HP, build MR, stasis.

Vel'koz - Dodge it, CC him out of the ultimate, stasis, MR.

Zed - Stasis, dodge his other abilities.

#How are any of these an instant or guaranteed death?

Kai Guy1 votes

Does Irelias R not also have clear counter play?

FOR JUSTICE2 votes

if "dodging" is your main form of argument here, just know its lackluster considering irelia's ult AND e are both completely dodgable, as well as qss being able to remove the slow or stun, or using stasis before she uses e, or not grouping too close to give multiple q resets.

every form of counterplay you listed applies to irelia as well.

therefore your comment literally reinforces my claim; plenty of champions using their ult can almost guarantee a kill.

Hotarµ1 votes

Didn't say anything about Irelia's ultimate, I was talking about the other ultimates you claimed were a "guaranteed death."

Also, I offered tons of options other than "just dodge it lol"

FOR JUSTICE1 votes

again:

is pretty much instant/guaranteed death.

no ult in the game, no matter if its any of the ones i listed, or irelias, will kill you on the spot on their own.

and i know you offered others, but the backbone of your post from what i can see was either dodge, qss/stasis, or have someone else eat it. to which i replied, also apply to irelia.

cause i mean, the op's argument is is pretty generic.

input "x champion can land r and youre just dead" into most of this games roster and you can see what i mean.

will kill you on the spot on their own.

So change your wording? Adding a "pretty much" doesn't do much to detract from the "instant/guaranteed death" part.

and i know you offered others, but the backbone of your post from what i can see was either dodge, qss/stasis, or have someone else eat it.

It wasn't, and I gave specific answers in regards to Fizz, Evelynn, Brand, Skarner, Darius, and some others.

But yes, the majority of the time you have to dodge ultimates, CC the person using them, or have a tank soak up the damage. That's kind of how MOBAs work.

Please show me atleast 5 ultimates that have better counterplay than the ones I listed here.

The amount of irelias I've seen wiff their ultimate means you can totally dodge it

heres the difference if your good enough on the champ it stops becoming a skillshot.

no they simply missed , totally shot it into a different direction or simply they were not in range , they just casted it

Ahri Baka1 votes

Ye and they buffed the Slow to 90% which means guaranteed stun and reset , even if you flash after getting hit by Ult , she still gonna dash on you again

Alignedbus0641 votes

As an irelia player the amount of times ive whiffed my ultimate is disgusting :)

Kazekiba1 votes

It's fairly short range, so it's easy to dodge. Sidestepping it too, if youre paying attention to her vocal cues ("LEAVE NONE ALIVE!", "For the Placidium!", and "CUT THEM DOWN!" etc.) isn't that hard. It's actually a lot scarier to get hit by stun first and then Q+R+Q than to be R->E.
