The League System ~ What is happening and Why can't I porgress?

Throughout this season I've almost completely had it with ranked!! After my provisional matches I placed Gold III which is higher than I made it last season, of these I won 8 out of 10 due to good teamwork and winning lanes/taking objectives and all the stuff that gets you the win. Over 300 games later and I am still in Gold III... Sadly I feel it is because everything that worked in these first 10 games have been completely lost. How is this possible?

It seems that since my provisional games almost all of my teams have forgotten how to ward, take objectives, teamfight, proper engage/disengage, have map awareness, CS, win lanes, act quickly, grouping for objectives. This is really frustrating because I want move up into platinum however I just can't carry hard enough to reach it, at least not on my own. My playstyle is mostly centered around bruisers, with Irelia, Fiora, Swain, Diana being my favourite champions however I find it very difficult to hard carry with these types of champs unless very fed. Also, I know I don't have the best mechanics however I do feel I am a very intelligent player game sense wise - I always know where their jungler is, I rarely ever get caught out, I can dominate in CS and zone out my lane opponents, freeze lanes when needed, teleport to take objectives - ie a lot of things you learn from high elo streams. Unfortunately this game knowledge is hard to instill in my teammates and I am constantly pinging and warning them of incoming ganks or roaming enemies. Its gotten so bad that I am constantly worrying about feeding teammates in other lanes that I can hardly focus on my own... causing me to miss CS and not dominate as hard as I used to. Sadly, I feel that I am stuck in a permanent rut and maybe have missed my chance to move up in the league system.

you blame your team too much. First, you have to realize that a progression is only supposed to happen if YOU get better at the game, not if you only play more games in total. You have to understand that the games are overall equally balanced (yes, not exactly perfectly balanced, but that'd just be impossible to be). Where am I trying to get? Next time you feel bad for, say, winning your lane but your middle lane losing HIS lane, instead of thinking "wow, doesn't matter if I win my lane, my mid lost his lane", realize that THEIR fed midlane will be thinking the same exact thing (wow, stupid top is feeding, doesn't matter if I win my lane).

You say you have good game knowledge / sense, map awareness, etc.; well, that's probably what got you to gold 3. If you want to get higher than that, start improving your other stuff too (like your mechanics, which you said yourself aren't the best. "One" quality (good game sense) isn't enough to take you to the highest rankings, those rankings are reserved for people who are good at a LOT of things in the game.

I'm not trying to belittle you or anything like that, I'm just saying that, for example, you're starting to blame your team doing bad for losing CS - honestly, that really is NOT excusable. I'm trying to warn you that, if you keep on with that "I should be climbing but my team isn't good enough!", you'll start to fall. Now you're messing up CS, soon you'll stop paying attention to the map, and then you'll start blaming your mid laner for not calling mia and start raging, etc. Take this as a friendly warning, be careful, k? :)

If you want to win, you have to be the one to make the impact in the game. You have to be the one winning. Don't hope for a better team that pays more atention or whatever, because I guarantee you that while a lot of people in your teams might suck, the same is true for the enemy team. Be the driving force behind your victories, GET better so you climb. Your ranking is a reflection of how good you are at winning the game, not how many games you've played

also, I know that feeling of "I'm doing better than my enemy laner, I'm communicating with my team, I'm helping them out with objectives, why am I still losing?", that happened to me a lot back when I was gold. Truth be told I can't really give you any very specific advice on how to get past that, only that you need to truly analyze yourself. I assure you that there certainly is a LOT of things you can improve, and every little bit helps

Half true, half not.

To many people forget this is a team game.

indeed it's a team game, but becoming a better player in this game includes becoming a better team player. Your team of course will dictate a lot of things about how the game flows, and it's impossible to win every single game - and quite a lot of losses will be your team's fault; if one wants to win more, though, one needs to learn how to be a bigger impact to the game, especially since we're talking about solo queue

The later in the season it gets, the harder the climb becomes as the good players have been consistently moving up. By the end of the season, silver is bronze, gold is silver and plat is hell :p

If you really think you are doing nothing wrong and its 100% your teams fault, just keep playing and probability will favor you comrade! (But 14 times failing provisionals is like winning the lottery, its not likely your luck sucks that much so try to improve yourself!)

Look at Hai and Link in the LCS. They've played like thousands of games in the last few years and they keep getting worse at the game every month. Imagine how they feel about that.

When xPeke made his new team Origen, they had to play through all the levels of Ranked 5 and Challenger in order to qualify for the Challenger Series. I'm sure Alex Ich got back to a high ranking on the NA servers pretty fast when he moved over. If you get better, you win more; it's really simple.

There are tons of ways you could get better and that's normally what you see as advice in response to posts like this. Just remember that when Wildturtle makes a smurf account he takes it all the way up into the top 20 in very few games, because the game feels it would be unfair to have him fighting against Gold and below ranks. It sounds like mechanically speaking you know you could improve and it's not too hard of a place to start. Also remember that the skill gets higher every Season, the same people at your level of the pyramid are learning too.

I wouldn't worry about how anyone else is playing. It doesn't help you, and you can't do anything about it anyway.
