ARAM is still ruined by mark

Mark was a terrible decision in the first place as both melee and tanks could get very good later in the game. Now we have tanks regenning damage faster than AP can even dish it out and to top it off those tanks can initiate outside of the squishies range. The entire point of squishies is that they can attack you from longer range so that while the enemy is getting to them they get to do some damage. Now you get instantly jumped so you're stuck either A. trying to tank them and do damage or B. Run away. The problem with A is they are tankier than you so you're going to lose and B they most likely still have an initiate/CC from their skill set. The real give away that mark is OP is that it is used 90% of the time as one of the summoner spells. Riot didn't want tanks/melee to feel left out, but now squishies are being left out.

Solutions:

  1. Increase the cooldown. I'd say to that of flash, given that both are mobility spells.
  2. Decrease it's range on both the mark and the dash. Make it 1100 to mark and 1300 for dash so the user has to at least take some risk to use it and they can't teleport a crossed the map.
  3. More options to counter tanks for AP. The tools right now are not cutting it mid-late game.
  4. Add a spell to counter it. A shield that negates it, a repel buff that bounces dashers away, a buff that stuns the dasher for 3s or so.

Anyway just voicing my opinion that the current state of ARAM is terrible. The tankiness combined with marks mobility makes it unfun to play as anything but a tank/brawler.

Before Mark the ARAM meta was extreemly poke focussed. Marks was the summoning spell that turned this meta arround. After the cooldown nerf the summoning spell is ballanced now.

ARAM is far from perfect but it's more ballanced than you might think. Poke can still be really strong. Try this:

  • Karma
    • AP support runes
    • Bust mage masteries (Thunderlord's)
    • Start with: item 3303 item 3108 item 1004 item 2003 item 2003

Most people use Mark wrong and just get themselves killed anyways. I don't know about you, but I enjoy the free feed.

The solution is to make Mark (and Dash) 1000 range. Nothing else about it needs to be changed (except making it easier to see).

Replacing Mark with either a decent sustain or waveclear spell would probably better address champion power disparities, but Mark is at least manageable in its current state. Poke still wins early, and tanks still win late.
