Idea for Crit Itemization

TLDR: Crit itemization makes it hard for Crit-dependent ADCs to be relevant early on in the game. In this thread, I propose changes for the stats in Stormrazor to be shifted to give more sustained damage rather than burst, and change IE's build path to require and item that grants its unique passive of doubling your crit chance in a similar way Oblivion Orb gives its unique passive for Morellonomicon, allowing Crit ADCs to become a factor sooner in the game and smoothing out their power curve to grant power in a steady fashion rather than big spikes.

So I believe one of the gripes for the current state of Crit-ADCs is that they take too long to scale. This is due to their jagged power curve from their first three items. Stormrazor gives a decent amount of power early on, but falls off hard in the mid game since it is followed by boots and a zeal item, which aren't very cost effective for the stats they give. Then, you get a huge power spike late game from IE, ultimately allowing you to contribute meaningfully in team fights. Kiting is also an issue before you buy IE since your damage is low and it's almost certain death if someone like Jax or Irelia jump on you. On top of that, the passive from Stormrazor, Storms Edge, is counter intuitive to have on an ADC since marksmen are meant for sustained damage, not burst damage. With all this in mind, I had an idea for shifting the power within Stormrazor and IE that would allow you to scale faster and more importantly smoother into the game, removing some feel bad moments that come along with playing crit marksmen. This would also involve adding a new item for 1500 gold similar to Oblivion orb which would give you IE's unique passive of doubling your crit chance. It would look like this:

Stormrazer: Total cost: 2̶8̶0̶0̶ ̶g̶o̶l̶d̶ 3000 gold Build Path: B.F. Sword + Long Sword + Brawlers Gloves + Dagger + 550 gold Attack Damage: 6̶0̶ ̶ -> 50 Attack Speed: 35% (unchanged) NEW - Crit Chance: 20% Unique: If you haven't basic attacked or canceled your basic attack for 3 − 0 (based on bonus attack speed) seconds, gain STORM'S EDGE. Unique: Storm's Edge: REVISED - Your next basic attack c̶r̶i̶t̶i̶c̶a̶l̶l̶y̶ ̶s̶t̶r̶i̶k̶e̶s̶ ̶f̶o̶r̶ ̶1̶4̶0̶%̶ ̶−̶ ̶2̶0̶0̶%̶ ̶(̶b̶a̶s̶e̶d̶ ̶o̶n̶ ̶c̶r̶i̶t̶i̶c̶a̶l̶ ̶s̶t̶r̶i̶k̶e̶ ̶c̶h̶a̶n̶c̶e̶)̶ ̶d̶a̶m̶a̶g̶e̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ grants 20% bonus movement speed for .̶𝟳̶𝟱̶ ̶𝘀̶𝗲̶𝗰̶𝗼̶𝗻̶𝗱̶𝘀̶ 𝟏 second.

NEW ITEM: Sword of Infinity: Total cost: 1500 gold Build Path: Ruby Crystal + Long Sword + 750 Gold Attack Damage: +10 Health: +200 Unique: Doubles your Critical strike chance.

Infinity Edge: Total cost: 3400 (unchanged) Build Path: B.F. Sword + NEW ITEM: Sword of Infinity + 600 gold +7̶0̶ -> 50 attack damage NEW: +300 Health UNIQUE: Doubles your Critical strike chance. (unchanged) U̶N̶I̶Q̶U̶E̶:̶ ̶W̶h̶e̶n̶ ̶c̶r̶i̶t̶i̶c̶a̶l̶l̶y̶ ̶s̶t̶r̶i̶k̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶c̶h̶a̶m̶p̶i̶o̶n̶s̶,̶ ̶c̶o̶n̶v̶e̶r̶t̶s̶ ̶1̶0̶%̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶c̶r̶i̶t̶i̶c̶a̶l̶ ̶s̶t̶r̶i̶k̶e̶ ̶d̶a̶m̶a̶g̶e̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶t̶r̶u̶e̶ ̶d̶a̶m̶a̶g̶e̶.̶ ̶ REMOVED

For Stormrazor, this would shift power away from the burst of your first auto and into your subsequent auto attacks, giving you more sustained damage rather than a counter intuitive burst. Along with that, you gain a slight increase in the duration of bonus movement speed from your first auto, giving you some more wiggle room to kite. And now that Stormrazor grants 20 percent crit chance, you will then receive a total of 50 percent crit chance upon completing your zeal item, instead of a measly 30 percent in the current state of the game. Furthermore, when building IE, you are no longer in an awkward position of just building raw AD and then suddenly getting the huge power spike of IE's passives upon completing the item. You now get some of this power within the build path in the exact same way Riot did for mages with Oblivion Orb, further making you relevant earlier in the game without granting too much damage before ultimately finishing IE. The extra AD and the true damage passive upon completing IE is removed since you now have 100% crit chance and any extra damage would be OP. This also solves the problem of having awkward amounts of crit throughout the game (30%, 60%, 80%, and 120% depending on your items). Lastly, the extra health is a nice bonus since there has been quite a bit of burst damage introduced into the game with things like Dark Harvest, and you now have a slightly bigger window to outplay your opponent instead of just getting deleted.

All things considered, I believe these changes would smooth out the Crit-ADC power-curve substantially, allowing them to be more relevant early on in the game by giving them the proper stats in which they are balanced around. Really looking forward to hearing feedback on this.

EDIT: Shed off the extra AD and increased the cost of Stormrazer by 200 gold. Otherwise, the introduction of 20% crit would be too cost effective. I removed the true damage passive from IE since now that you are at 100% crit, the true damage would be too strong and therefore OP. With this passive removed, you now actually need to decide if you need a Lord Doms if you're playing against tanks.

I think the sword of infinity is a bit too powerful - if you have 50% crit and build this one item, without even finishing IE, it gives its base stats +50% crit, which is an insane gold value.

The stormrazor changes I love. I had the exact same thought about stormrazor being an ACTUAL crit item so it can actually scale with the rest of the build, and the way its done here would make such a smooth transition and would allow 100% crit to be attainable by dedicating 3 item slots to crit, all without offering too much crit on its own. Support.

Yes you are right, the Sword of Infinity would have have insane gold value essentially giving 100 percent crit. I should edit the post and adjust for this feedback.

Thank you very much for your support.

I don’t think so. Because in order to have that you have to have 2 items already fully built.
