Pretty disappointed

I am trying so hard to improve in support but it's getting tougher and tougher. I am on the worst losing streak I've ever had. My stats have gone to total shit and I honestly have no idea what to do anymore. Recently I have gotten adc who I've tried my damn hardest to help but all they wanna do is feed and not go in. I don't understand why. And then we both end up dying. I need advice please on what I can do to improve in game. I'm. In such a slump.

Lux is your answer.

She can solo carry and function perfectly fine as a support. People will tell you otherwise but you can ignore that. I'm not saying this pick will get you anywhere near high or even mid elo but if i can get lux from lvl 5 to 7 in 2 days playing her only support in silver i'd say it works fine in bronze.

either try to share the kills between you and your adc or just take the double if they die. Focus on learning to land your Q and shield (believe me the shield is the hardest ability to hit, your team will dodge it as if they were faker) the W is harder to miss than it is to land. Don't try to use your ult without them being cc'd. it's really not worth it until lategame where it's got like no CD.

And if you don't want that, try Nautilus. His hook is easier to land than Blitz's but he's still a pick champion. Atleast someone in your team should react.

If you want the lux playstyle but less chances of people flaming you: Brand Zyra Morgana Annie Orianna Velkoz Veigar work too but while they don't have Lux supports bad rep, they're often not really considered an option by many.

and lastly if your REALLY want to ruin your enemy laners day: Fiddlesticks

Just don't be an idiot and build item 3098 at the very least.

I think it's about time you go on ahead and ditch shield supports (For now). It seems like you're looking to do more- carry even, while having an arsenal of supports helps with team comp, it doesn't change that if your ADC plays bad- you fall behind aswell.

If you're looking to do more solo-wise in bot lane, supports such as: Brand Xerath Velkoz Veigar Sion Zilean Exists just for those reasons!

Yaśuo Main1 votes

None of those are pure supports

FOR JUSTICE1 votes

he did call them solo-wise supports. they're kinda greedy picks, but can carry if your adc is crappy

RedEve2 votes

Still played as Support. Not everyone likes sitting behind their ADC- heal, ward, shield, rinse and repeat for 10+ Minutes, waiting- sitting- hoping their ADC isn't bad.

Yaśuo Main1 votes

80% of them aren’t played as supports

Apparently because you can’t read, they aren’t played LIKE a support to clarify. They can function as one.

RedEve1 votes

Actually, my good sir, you didn't say "Played LIKE a support". You said- and I quote "80% of them aren’t played AS supports". A rather big difference. Should always clarify yourself first before claiming someone is unable to read when really you've failed to properly explain yourself initially.

Also, who cares? The point of the post was to tell the OP that there is a different path instead of Shield-Support, not if YOU agree that they should be played as Support or even if they're pure supports. They can go bot lane as Support and has proven to succeed at doing so in the process and THAT is all that matters.

Yaśuo Main1 votes

Actually, my good sir, you didn't say "Played LIKE a support". You said- and I quote "80% of them aren’t played AS supports"

Nice job making this not only wrong, but contradictive statement because you go and say this

They can go bot lane as Support

which is the exact same way the word is used as this

aren’t played as supports

so I don't see how you magically say basically the same thing I said but nag on me for clarity.

A rather big difference

It's not rather big and you know it. I don't see why you bother even trying to make yourself look more right than you are wrong already.

Should always clarify yourself first

Yet you knew what I meant, maliciously pretended to not know, then say the same thing afterwards. Sure.

claiming someone is unable to read

Correction, you are able to read. You just pretend you don't understand till it benefits you.

Also, who cares?

I do.

the point of the post was to tell the OP that there is a different path instead of Shield-Support, not if YOU agree that they should be played as Support or even if they're pure supports

If you say "supports" when they aren't supports, and if I mention that you are wrong at that point, I AM correct. You don't get to say "oh well that wasn't duh point" and pretend I didn't just point out a glaring flaw. Not to mention those champions are gonna need SCALING so they need to WIN LANE or they are useless. So now instead of YOU hoping the ADC isn't bad, its the ADC hoping YOU aren't bad.

not if YOU agree that they should be played as Support or even if they're pure supports

Doesn't have to be. I'm not talking about wtf the post is about, I'm just pointing out a flaw YOU are freaking out over.

They can go bot lane as Support and has proven to succeed at doing so in the process and THAT is all that matters.

So can a bunch of other champions that you DID NOT list that aren't even MID LANERS. And they aren't pure supports EITHER. So MY POINT was that I DONT HAVE ONE and IM JUST POINTING OUT A FLAW, Jesus Christ. And if you want me to prove why those 80% champions will SUCK at support, I god damn will.

RedEve1 votes

Well for one, no one was pretending. Don't know why you automatically think I was even out to get you, there's also no wrong or right here- you can't really say Vel'Koz, etc shouldn't be play at the support role when he has the win percentage in thatlane to show it works. Secondly, I guess they "Suck" at **supporting ** the ADC- which btw was never what I was originally pointing out nor talking about, was simply talking about playing them in the support role for the OP to do more, all the while of them actually having a good win % at support. As for hoping the ADC hoping I'm not bad, luckily I'm not bad and I do assume the OP isn't bad either (Plus besides you can always get better), I've won, carried and commanded more games as a non "Pure" support more than I have as a "Real" support. What we should be saying is words such as "Supporting" instead of "Support" since it's rather obvious we're speaking of two different things. BTW if you're the worse player, you're going to lose lane anyways. Also, I wasn't freaking out, was simply trying to prove my point but alas, I've realized you're talking about something different from what I'm speaking of- or well, was speaking of.

Lastly, you pointing out this "Flaw" made it sound almost like you SHOULDN'T play them while going support. If that was what you were trying to Contribute then I can't say I agree. All I'm saying to the OP is that, if he's looking to do more in lane and out of lane, there are other champions he can play and if he succeeds in doing so like others have then there's really no harm. If it doesn't work out then he can always keep trying.

This should actually end this conversation, I believe everything has already been addressed and continuing this "Who thinks what" will benefit no one, not even the OP.

The best thing I can recommend you is to learn the bot lane match ups. Which only comes with experience. If you can't recognize when it's best to play to survive laning phase instead of always looking to trade or fight, you'll end up in many situations where your AD just won't have the damage/tools to come off with a favorable trade, and the worst thing you can do is attempt to force fights that you cannot win. And the same goes the other way. If you're in a favorable early match up and you don't take advantage, the enemy might out scale you. Smart trades are everything in the 2v2 match up. Learn when to take them and when it's better to try to avoid them entirely. Play around summoner spells and cool downs. If an Ashe just used her W to farm a wave and your AD is a Jhin or a Draven, go for the trade. Also: not every trade needs to result in a kill. A lot of people get way too greedy and wanna force a kill after a good trade and this is not required. You can just win a trade and continue to farm, then repeat the trade and even if you don't kill the enemy, you may force em to back and that's a great advantage by itself. Finally, learn to hold off on your summoner spells. This can be difficult to learn, but unless you see the situation is hopeless unless you flash or exhaust or whatever, keep those spells for as long as you can. Sure, you may end up in some situations where you wish you had flashed, but through experience and practice you'll learn to save those spells till the last moment and for the best situations.

First of all, I'm not good at English. [slayer-jinx-wink]

Second, you can buy some control wards.

Third, you should play all the lanes to understand macro. (Since supp is a sort of jg/mid.)

If you have finished pushing your minions, you can roam. Put your wards.

If your mid lane is" freezed", there should be many minions in front of your tower. You can deal some damages to the minions. (Don't take the last hit, though.) (It's basically a jg's job.)

If you get the 1st tower, get the drake or herald. Go for the other lanes.

If you are behind, protect the herald from being captured by the enemy team. (But you cannot leave your adc alone, if you are still getting your 1st bot tower.)

If you get bot and mid towers, invade the enemy jungle for snowballing with your teammates. And ward there. Your team gets extra exps/golds, enemy team lose them.

After that, you recall, on your way back to the lane, mid gets your blue buff, adc gets your red, and so on. While your teammates are farming in the jungle, sup places wards.

When you are way behind, you have to take back the control of your jungle. To do that, you can place wards at first. Recall back again to refill your wards. Do it quick before the enemies come back. But be cautious. The first wards would be destroyed by the enemy, but you can replace with your new ones.

Tower Siege? You should be able to "dive" to the tower sometimes. You take the damage from the tower, your team goes in, kill the enemies. When the enemy has "wave clear", invade the jungle.

Want to get Baron? Push the mid lane first. And you have to take the control of the enemy jungle.

Where are the enemies? Are they dead? How many enemies are in the bot lane? Where is the enemy jg?

Your Baron is in danger of stealing? You have to protect your jg. You have to kill the enemy jg. Because Smite matters.

lol is basically an object-trading game. You don't need to protect all the towers. Don't do that. Just keep trading towers when you are winning.

There are much more you can take care of. Good luck.

let me play yas adc 4 u <3

FOR JUSTICE1 votes

I found the most success in keeping trades super short and efficient usually by spamming an ability then AA, then backing off before either enemy can retaliate (well). I don't really depend on my ADC to do much other then farm usually, so by taking smaller trades as opposed to longer ones you're more likely to win out because of the 1v2. another thing you have to stress with this strategy though is ability cooldowns, for obvious reasons.

also note though, when you play support, build to support the team. when you play sona, try and stray away from the greedier buys like lichbane unless youre that far ahead. in that match where you were vs the veigar, jinx, lux, trundle, and riven I feel a mikaels crucible would have been a much better buy because they had tons of hard CC, or a locket being that 3/5 of their members were bursty champs. also, never finish your gold income item first, all they do is give you slightly increased stats, it doesn't actually increase the amount of gold you get. its better to finish them 3rd or 4th

I also noticed In matchups where you have the bully advantage, you opt for exhaust over ignite (cait + sona(you) vs sivir + thresh, zyra(you) + misfortune vs Lucian + bard)

item 3098 upgrade this LAST item 1001 upgrade this only after getting at least one full item

Now I see you're playing mostly Sona Rakan Zyra

And by the looks of your skill picks and runes it seems like you're setting yourself up to fail by getting overcomplicated. (unsealed spellbook can be great, if you know when/what to change, those champs are great but have a lot in their kits to keep track of)

Try to simplify your game and give yourself concrete objectives. For instance, you're buying control wards and that's awesome. But your overall wards placed per game is still pretty low. I improved my warding by challenging myself to have a vision score at least double the number of wards I placed every game. Lane pushed and adc wants to back? Ward enemy blue or dragon.

Pick a simple champ and stick with them. Really learn all the ins and outs. Watch YouTube videos for tips. Play around with different rune builds until you find something that works well. The game is always changing so your builds will have to as well. Don't just learn what the best runes or items are. Learn WHY. That will help you develop your own builds more effectively.

Don't dive for kills that aren't garunteed (wait until enemies are below 1/2 health). Be content with getting one hit in and walking away. Staying alive is more important than getting a kill. Always.

If you don't know where the enemy jungler is then save your snares/stuns/cc and assume you will get ganked. Use them to save your adc. Assume your adc is an idiot and you will have to save their life. Be prepared to always. However, if they try something stupid (like a tower dive with no vision and enemies with lots of health) dont feel obligated to die with them. Know when to walk away from a fight. Don't push past the river unless you know where their jungle is (preferably top). You will die.

If your adc is tanking hard, despite your efforts, and first tower has been taken, go support whoever is doing well. Is your top steamrolling? Great. Go help them get a tower. That can be a bit more tricky if it's your jungler taking off. Then I'd say if they have a habit of ganking a certain lane then that's where you want to be. Feel free to bounce between lanes to help, but don't travel the jungle alone unless you know where all the enemies are.

The best defence is a good offense. You left bot to help mid, now your bot is getting pushed and your adc is mad at your because they are 2-9-1. Tough shit draven, if you are 3 or 4 manning another lane and plowing towers without remorse, the enemy WILL back off of your towers. NB: this does not apply if they are at your base and taking inhibitors.

Ahhh that's all I can really think of for now. Good luck out there!

Oh and if you're getting stressed just go play an ARAM.

Ya but if he's referring to norms then thats just troll. Norms arent real games. Be lucky if all of your teammates actually show up to their keyboards for a norm.

FOR JUSTICE2 votes

its no doubt that people don't take norms seriously, but from a psychological point of view, youre losing to opponents who aren't even trying even though youre putting in 100%. that's kinda discouraging.

Shit my worst win rates are always normals. When I can literally be matched with pre-30's to master elo all in one game, they're just volatile af and tend to be completely one sided depending on who got the better team.

Play janna, seriously if you can't win as janna then there is something wrong with your mental frame of mind, i.e your entering the match with a defeatist attitude and then it comes true because you saw no hope of winning that match.
