How to make the ranking system fair.

You have no control over the other four people on your team, so why is your ranking based solely on whether you win or lose? Here's a better idea. Kill = 2 points Assist = 1 point Death = -1 point (maybe this should be -2?) Win/Loss = (+/-)5 points I couldn't decide whether deaths should be a loss of one or two points, because Tank deaths can be beneficial, and same with Support. (i.e. Dying to save teammates.)

So let's say you go 7/2/5, and your team wins. You'd get 22 LP. Same with your team losing, you'd get 12 LP.

If you had gone 2/7/5, with a win, you'd gain 7 LP. Same with a loss, you'd get -3 LP.

Another idea, instead of gain/lose points for win/loss, it could be that deaths are penalized harder if your team loses.

The point is, there should be more to your rank than whether you win or lose. P.S. Something like this could solve the problem of getting carried to a higher rank.

how to cheat this system, play really safe with soraka until level 6, then afk in base and use ults for assists. even if your team loses, you have a good kda so you climb right? it's a really bad idea for a lot of reasons. if you can't climb after playing a lot of games, you belong where you are, it's not your team. the point of the game is get the nexus, you could feed and still win and that's fine. sometimes it's better to die and save someone than let them die. with this idea, you give up trying to win and you just go for a great kda, which means you get high ranked players who are good at killing and not dying, and they don't focus on winning which isn't what we want.

That's a good point. We'd need to have a way to avoid something like that. My idea is just an example, I'm only really trying to raise awareness as to how unfair it is to be ranked based on 4 people that you can't control. Your effort is essentially 1/5 of your rank.

when you make it based on kda, this happens. have to ignore the kda and make it based off how the player wins games over many games, which is what we actually have now and it works. it just takes many games to place you at the right rank. what you would want more many though is a way to place to faster at the right rank, which would be hard to make.

the thing about your rank being based off 4 other people, it is but barely. it's more about how you work in a team than the team you get. with enough games, it's your rank, doesn't matter what team you get since you would have played with about every type of team and so has everyone else.

Fishing for kills/assists is a lot easier than trying to win.

If both teams just did that I think the games would still be more interesting, and it would still have to end eventually. :) However, that's why there would still be a penalty for losing and a reward for winning. I'm not saying my idea is the best solution, I'm really just trying to throw something out there to solve the major problem that ranked has. I know something like this can work, CS:GO for example has a ranking system that is based on more than just wins and losses.

-3 for a loss? dude just no.

That's just an example, and I realize too that seems a bit low. That's why I'm unsure as to whether deaths should be more of a penalty.

I think this is the reason the elo system went away because People would worry only about personal scores. If you listened to the post cast they want to make ranked more like pro pay, and in that it would not matter if you 24-0 if you lose because of bad team coordinator what's the point.

If memory serves, they changed the ranking system for purely cosmetic reasons. As in, people felt more intimidated by their ELO number so they broke it up into Ranked Leagues so people felt better about it.

They will never change their shitty ranking system. No League fanboy will ever agree to changing the ranking system. The only people who will disagree with this are the people who "work hard" in ranked (keep playing until your sanity runs out). This may not be the best solution but it may be better than going 2-10 in your ranked promos and being placed in Silver just because you didn't play last season.

Yeah and there is like no way to abuse this point system right?

Not like people are just gonna farm kills all day in x hour long matches for LP, naw that's just silly.

A point system would be much better than what we have right now. A million times better, but it has to be done right. There has to be a ranking per team, so say best overall score gets 5 points and last place person gets 1 point, everyone in between gets their rank's worth. Then you get say another 3 for winning the match or lose 5 for losing the match. If you lose the match but performed the best on your team you get a net neutral spread - don't go up or down. Likewise being the worst on your team, but winning a lot, would be a snail crawl to the top.

There are plenty of statistics that could be calculated to determine scores, it would be really easy, and KDA is NOT the best record to go by.
