Is ranged champions in a good place right now?

I've been on and off and I just went back on LoL for a little while and all I've seen is melee champions, assassins tanks and/or bruisers mainly dominate how the game turns out. I love playing ranged champions mage, adc or supports and it may be because I've been away for a while but still I tried to play to see how it turned out. Chasing is now much easier and accessible for melee champions or something, but I work my ass off to get good positioning, but still champions like shyvanna ekko poppy just walked up and do big load amount of inevitable damage. They just walked up and destroyed any ADC or Mage without having much risks to take being tanky and having tools to reach you while having fast speed.

I also am looking for advice. If you're a mage like Lux, Syndra, Anivia, AHri or other mages, what would you do differently against others. For aiming champions like Lux & Morg, how to land skillshots to actually work the poke because it seems like my skillshots are getting predictable. Frankly, I've been out quite a while and still adjusting to this whole mage update thing. Items suggestion would also be nice.
