Make Support a single option like Autofill?
So as the system is now, if you Autofill or play a game of Support you are protected from being autofilled in the upcoming game.
For some people, this is ideally a way to play their one Autofill/Support game of the day and secure that protection for their next ranked game and get the carry role they prefer whether that be their primary choice, or secondary choice.
But for others, support is all they do. Autofill protection provides a cushion for us and rarely does the secondary EVER come into play, ask anyone that mains support. And according to the protection, Support and Autofill is valued the same anyways so why not make Support a single selection option much like the Autofill option is? Anyone that is just OK with playing support (and not a main) could just put it as a secondary, get their fill protection every now and then, but still have their carry games from whatever the primary option is.
Personally, I would like this because I feel that the support role is so fundamentally different to any other role that if you are actually used to playing those roles, you should have to voluntarily opt into playing them via the other primary/secondary options, or just actually picking Fill so you can practice whatever is open (but lets not fool ourselves, that is 9 times out of 10 either always the Support or Jungle role.)
Support being so fundamentally different from the other role also makes is significantly harder, stressful, and mentally straining for me whenever I'm forced into a role I'm not as familiar with (especially one that requires farming, a mechanic I NEVER have to do as a support, and don't even get me started on jungling..) because it has such drastically different requirements from what I'm used to. Not to mention (though this will be fixed come this preseason) the different kinds of pregame preparations that come with playing a champion that's not a support, such as runes (especially ADC's, which would be the standard secondary pick for someone who wants to stay in the duo lane). In my case, I currently have three rune pages, two of them for squishy AP supports and the third for my HP tank supports. I don't think I've ever even managed to save the IP to properly make a rune page for any other role anyways.
Idk, I've just thought about this before and it just seems to make so much sense in my head I'd love to hear others thoughts on it even though I'm sure people are gonna think it's some kind of "special-snowflake-syndrome" but honestly it'd probably just be a byproduct of them not fully appreciating the value of what a Support/Autofilled player brings to the table. SHRUG Someone get a Rioter in this bish.
