Hi, can anyone tell me how support works and what are the best support characters for beginner supports? Earlier today I encountered a stupid duo in blind pick that wanted to duo top even though I called jungler, which would mean the adc would be alone, so I dodged because I had no support characters and I do not know how to play support. Any information would be appreciated!
it's the most important role, the 4 champs on your team are your assets they make you gold. you the buisness guy then have to make investments to keep the players able to make more money. example 
giving your allies valuable shields. If one of your team mates just can't farm, but you can make use of it you send a tax collector to collect for you

as liability costs, but safety nets. If you die thats gold and experience that's not available to you and time is money.
There are 4 types of supports. Poke, Shield. heal. engage/ disengage. Leona would apply as a engage shield where a sona would apply all 4 This is a good way to see how well a champion plays as a support before playing. and What services you can provide to make your assets want to work for you.
The enemy support is the rival they want the shutdown money and they'll go out of their way to remove any safety nets to help acquire that.
This whole thing is a little cheesey, but the more you think of it the more it makes sense. Helping others helps you you get a portion of the profits.
Braum's simple and flexible and has bulk to forgive mistakes, I think he's a better starter support than the typical Soraka/Sona recommendations (Those two explode instantly if someone looks at them)
