Why do we lose LP after going through 20 minutes of hell..?

Sometimes we get trolls, flamers, and AFKs on our teams. However we still pull through and finish the games that we don't want to play.

We could always ignore the flamers, and trolls by hitting mute and stalling out 20 minutes until the team can forfeit. Sadly, we can not ignore an AFK. A 4 v 5 is certainly possible, and I have accomplished this before, but it is very difficult as some of you may know. Now I ask, why do we also lose LP for an unfair game, that is not even our fault. Having a 4 v 5 means one less person to tank the damage, the cc, and possibly even engaging. It makes no sense that the other four players have to suffer threw through the 20 minutes, and end up losing LP. Why dont we instead reward the victors as always, and for the team with the AFK, lose nothing. Their LP should stay the same so they can hopefully, win the promos that they would have or win the last placement games that they should have. What do you guys think of this problem?

Another solution is canceling the game if someone is AFK from the beginning of the game.

Riot should at least implement a system to reduce LP loss with AFKs. Even better, if they start a system to remove LP loss with AFKs ingame, I think ranked will be a better place.

Riot should fix this its really dumb losing so much lp for having a afk on your team even though you tried your best

True, riot needs to change it. Unfair for everyone playing.

True it makes no sense to lose lp if someone afks, it makes the players on the 4v5 team suffer. wasting their time in a game that is unwinable

There are two opposing sides in this argument. Each side having a justifiable reason for doing what they do.

  1. The "trolls": So there are those people who are either feeding or flaming really hard right? Well maybe because they have had to deal with something in their life and they just wanna play the game to let the stress out. I mean its not okay to feed all the time, but since when did having a bad game result in being labeled as the person who is "trolling"? However, you may say people do cuss and flame at each other. Its something that you have to expect when people are stressed. Not only expecting it in your games, but try to stop it. People don't beat or pick on others just because they feel like it. They could be set off by maybe the way YOU play or something you said to offend them. Either ways, its an aspect of life that you have to deal with.

  2. The people who suffer As for the Lp issue of ranked games, that is actually a feasible idea. It is quite unfair for people to lose their in-game rank because of the misdoings of others. (not really much to say here other than this, but it is a good thing to point out.)

Brandon I do know that people to suffer because of this costing their time to play this game we call entertainment. However, PrinceOfStorms is right. There are unforeseen situations that can occur such as "internet death", blackouts, etc., but that also leads to the abuse if there was a specific function to prevent things like this. If you say that Riot can just look at the maestro logs, game logs, performance logs, and network logs autonomously there is going to be an issue. 1) There might be a large majority who stop playing/complain because to do so Riot would have to access the files on your computer. 2) More lag; since Riot hasn't actually made much improvements on their servers, its presumed that they haven't improved heir networking much either. So adding a whole other program to judge each case would change the whole performance of the game because the program would have to check the 5 logs of every person of a game (50 logs = 1 game) continuously. ITS JUST A GAME BRANDON, DEAL WITH IT Otherwise, I wish you a good day and a happy time on the rift. (hopefully ffree of "feeders", "AFK'ers", and "trolls" as indicated in this post.

***Added: If your going to complain that its only you that experiences this problem, please note that if you believe its only you in the more than 10 million who play this game you're probably wrong.

In a long enough series of games, this will end in your favor as you win more games than lose to AFK'ers.

It sucks, but it is the way it currently works until we get a way to end games super early if someone fails to connect.

I agree with this. If included correctly, this could be a very handy system for victims of AFKing, trolling, etc. It's pretty frustrating to have a team mate give up on the rest of the team completely, and decide to throw the game and not try. They might not care, but it still sucks for everyone else.

Because if loss forgiven was enabled for games that have someone that's AFK, here's what you'd get.

"Hey duo partner, i'm in a promotion series and we're losing this game, mind AFK'ing?"

"sure thing man"
