How does this give me gold 5?

YIKES OMEGALUL - Summoner Stats - League of Legends

I feel like I should have been placed AT LEAST gold 3 but it actually gave me gold 5 even though I played way better than gold 5 in my placement games. How does the system choose what rank you should be placed in? I feel like I deserve higher but correct me if im wrong.

First off being placed gold is already higher than I think 90% of the community should be placed. Also have you played ranked in previous season? That is a factor.
