Rengar Winrate Patch 8.4

Rengar has seen his revert now to his old Q. Before this update, he has sat around a 48% winrate for the last few patches at least. Rengar and his place in the meta have not been very well defined in the past few months, as his winrate has failed to peek even slightly above 50% in a very long time. Following his Q revert, which has just now hit live, I have seen many complaints from players, stating that he is broken or there is "no counterplay." But take a second to look at his winrate. As many players jumped on this patch to play rengar again, his winrate plummeted all the way down to 44% in the Jungle. His top lane winrate came in a close at 46%. Seeing this, his main roles occupy the bottom four of the leaderboard taking up 3rd and 4th worst winrates of all time currently. Many of you say he needs a nerf, but that's definitely not necessary at this point.

Alright, I edited it.

he is broken. its just the people all like "oh man he is reverted to broken, lets play him" but they suck in general and tarnish the winrate. It will spike when they stop.

I mean the rengar really shoudlnt be killing a full hp chogath in 2.13 seconds, especially when the chogath has 8.7k hp and 200 armor

Sorry, but that's blatantly false. Plus I literally posted about how people say "he's broken", you may be one of those people.

he is literally pre-rework rengar (they remade him because he was unhealthy), only difference is he now has a cleanse, shred on his ult and a bonus ad increase

Also if you look at his "hunt indicator" it literally only shows up like 300 units before he jumps

Asatex2 votes

This shows how much you actually know about rengar, he isn't "literally pre-rework rengar" as he can't hold his empowered abilities. This means that he can't farm the jungle until he has EMP E and then gank someone with it. He doesn't have a cleanse too, that shit was removed a few patches after the last rework.

The ult indicator is not a big thing since a smart rengar would only ult once he was close enough anyways...

Nice try but next time try informing yourself better though

just wait till people become readjusted to him, his winrate will go up.

EMPOWERED ACTIVE: Battle Roar's base damage is modified to 50 - 220 (based on level) and is additionally cleansed.

Asatex1 votes

It will go up but it won't go from 44% to 54% that would make no sense, especially since Rengar is not hard to play so people can't really do that many mistakes with him...

Also my bad with the W what i meant to said is that they removed the "free cleanse" since now he can only do it with an Empowered ability, as i said he doesn't get it for "free" anymore and if he uses it he looses the stacks of ferocity A.K.A the Empowered Q that unless ahead he needs to burst.

You should treat rengar like a yasuo or a vayne, he is the only mid- late game assasin in the game but his early game SUCKS so just counter gank him, counter jungle him and avoid his ganks(pre 6 this is easy af to do)Leave him behind and he won't burst nearly fast enough to do his thing and thus the game will be free for you and your team. Additionaly in the late game just group, if rengar can't get the full damage of his ULT (the one he gets by jumping on the nearest target) it becomes hard for him to do anything especially with supports/ CC tanks existing. His W is not a good escape tool either, yes he gets the movement speed but he still is squishy AF and should be killed of pretty fast by your ADC and mid laner not to mention that you can CC him to death.

Add to that what i already said above and you have more than enough counterplay to Rengar that you can exploit and hence the low winrate... especially considering that his damage got lowered with this rework and that as i said before he can't hold ferocity for long.

People got adjusted to him during season 4 and 5, before the rework, if they were to revert him, his winrate should dramatically increase. Rengar doesn't even get 1.3k ad unless he builds full AD, and I'm pretty sure that shit was patched - heavily. I mean, before asking Riot about his attack damage, why don't you ask about Nasus' ability to build full tank and chunk for 600-700 damage every 1.2 seconds at 20 minutes even after losing lane hard.

It's ironic as you say he doesn't have a cleanse but right now I see that his EMP W removes crowd control effects. You forgot to mention old rengar had 5 stacks and not 4.The ult part makes absolutely no sense regarding the subject. You're trying to prove his ult isn't overpowered by saying he ults from close range anyways (which is not true), so let me restructure the argument.A rengar player will not ult from close range as it gives him a movement speed bonus, which he can use to gank an adc that is not near his support.Another strong effect of his ult is the true sight part of it (seeing an invisible teemo, talon or shaco which makes him a strong counterjungler midgame).HOWEVER, I'm going to do something that you clearly haven't done and that is to prove why Rengar is not overpowered.True vision (control wards, tf's ult etc.) makes him weak.Is it not true that the strong aspect of the champion is the fact that he can jump on you out of nowhere and once you have vision on him, he becomes far weaker? Also, early counterjungling messes him up a lot, especially by champions that have strong clears and good tools for invading. Also, unless there is a rengar-ivern combo, rengar can only do his complete combo while in brushes.Ganking mid is especially hard because the distance between the brushes and the minion wave is too far for him to jump. His second most reliable ganking tool before 6 is his E, which is a skillshot. Not to mention, rengar is a high risk high reward champion (just like Riven, Yasuo). That means once he's behind, it's really hard to come back from it (unless he fishes for some low life targets, solo players or adc's that have really bad positioning). Not to mention, tanks, chain cc's and teamfights make his life harder (just like with any other assassin). In lower elos it's easier to kill an adc in a teamfight and sometimes get away with it.But in higher elos you can see that Rengar has a hard time to go past all the shields, the disengage and the peel from the enemy team, not to mention getting one shot by the adc itself.Rengar is a hard champion especially in high elo because you need to know WHEN to engage and HOW to setup your engage, using the terrain.

Nice try but next time try being less arrogant and ignorant.

Maybe not be so arrogant either? He admitted he was wrong about the W above.

I agree with your points. He's a mess right now, imo.

There's literally no way the Rengar killed a full hp chogath with almost 9k health and 200 armor in 2.13 seconds. If your going to make up scenarios, at least make them realistic.

Cryo002 votes

How in the hell can renger kill a Cho with 8k HP and 200 armour.......let alone kill him in 2.13 seconds

Talon121 votes

ask rito balance team why rengar is allowed 1.3k ad first

HaIlMonitor4 votes

I honestly feel like this was a "We want" for our fun (as rengar mains), not for him to be busted. People think the revert made him busted, but really outside of the swimming Q feeling clunky (and randomly getting dodged via flashes or dashes) this version probably is weaker. I dont mind though, I have fun when I dont have full monkey teams.

GodlyBane5 votes

revert was a lowkey nerf lol. His Q damage got nerfed and doesnt AoE (worse for 2v1, 3v1, teamfights, etc). and they removed ult crit

big scary lion is now a cute tickly kitty cat.

Cryo002 votes

Really ? I find his ult harder to dodge in time now cause he kills me with one or two hits.

Hügö2 votes

To one shot you now Rengar has to actually pull of a combo, while with the swimming Q the duskblade and crit from his ult was enough to oneshot so he actually just needed to rightclick.

Bultz2 votes

gut rengar fker is broken.

Cryo002 votes

I kinda feel like the old one (AOE Q) had more counterplay, cause the Q requires like 0.5-1.0 seconds to actually do the damage. The new one just clicks on you and you die before you can do anything. So....idk.

Assassins need a secure font of damage, because they are fighting against champs like Xayah Vayne that are faster, safier and got more mobility and utility than rengar. You also have to fight against Janna Lulu that can cc/peel you without any delay. If you have all your damage in a long animation that is also a skillshot, you basically care nothing

You can't ask for counterplay on assassin's damage if what you are fighting doesn't have it (point and click 700 k crits, point click 2 sec polymorph, point and click shield that give y ad and make your life steal stronger for this, click to be untargetable even if you are snared+ aoe snare, stopwatch...the list of adc's and support's things Without a counterplay is very long)

What R-flash said, a ton of ppl are trying him out right now, once it calms down (couple weeks) check again and we'll get meaningful #s from people who play him more often etc and actually know the champ

datfatguy1 votes

Trust me. I played him, and he is disgusting when even a little bit fed. This is the Rengar that we all love and love to hate.

3rd and 4th worst winrates of all time currently.

Not even close

Really though, we need more data to go off of

N3mO061 votes

I think he is fine. Lethality items scale in a bad way because he lacks of base damage, but his late game is a nightmare if you aren't vayne/lulu/janna or Xayah . So it's fine. Moreover you have to considerate a lot of people are using it thinking he is a monster, omg oneshot....experienced players are winning 57% of the times.

hum... i just see his play rate rise stupidly... ofc his wr decrease. I mean its jungle, even if the pick is broken it dosn't insta win the game.

Hügö1 votes

I stomped every Rengar in the jungle I faced since the revert.

Just Shimakaze1 votes

The reason his winrate has plummetted is people who thought they were good at old rengar aren't and are losing games on him while they try him out. When it goes back to people that know rengar only playing him I think his winrate will go up at least back to what it was before.

Rico Nasty1 votes

Needs another rework imo. Remove all the no-counterplay jumping from his kit and add some sort of defense mechanism. I'm okay with him dealing a lot of damage, that's what assassins do, but I feel like he'd be balanced for good if they made his jump either more predictable or just more reasonable in general, being that you'll just be walking down mid and out of nowhere with no warning he jumps on top of you and one-shots you and you have no chance to react. His problem is after he jumps and blows all his abilities trying to kill you, while they're all on CD, your jungle can easily come in and do the cleanup work and he can't do anything except for AA. It feels so unhealthy and unbalanced to blow all your abilities on one person with zero counterplay, giving you a guaranteed kill, but until all of your abilities are on cooldown once again you're basically chopped liver. He needs to feel somewhat useful at all points of the game, but not unfun to play against or as.

DaggerCatz1 votes

The sad thing is he actually got nerfed at his Revert. But guys if u want to play him and win too than you should play him more like a bruser (or how ever the f u write that) , he still oneshots adc´s but against less squishy targets he can do something against too. (sorry for my extremly bad english)

  • Rengar revert brings in a bunch of new players that don't know how to use him
  • Winrate drops

wooooooow riot woooooooow

cheenis boosh1 votes

Rengar probably has the most counterplay out of most the champions, if not all. You know the balance team should be swapped out or their functionality should be addressed when - in an attempt to massively buff a champion, they utterly gut him and fucking ruin him. Not to mention how long it takes for them to actually address a broken champion. It took them all preseason for Vayne, Warwick has had a 54% winrate for god knows how many fucking patches (definitely above 4 or 5). Akali has had 0 skillshots and little to no counterplay since the "Assassin Rework". Tanks dominating the meta has been going on since fucking season 5-6. Sion has had a 54-56% winrate since the preseason. What is this shit, they have absolutely no idea what they're doing. Nasus hasn't even received a nerf since patch 5.22

Hyquiem1 votes

The thing is, many champs in the game are ofc ominous like there’s no more mid action of cassiopiea and the crazy leblancs, the other issue is, the jungle was once allowed to win and now almost any jungler who can get a kill or assist of a gank is what balances the game in terms of winning and loosing. At this point the champs aren’t much of the main things in the roles, but the roles and how the champs make em be. Like riots still touching azir at a 49 winrate or lower, while they don’t see viktor doing this huge power spike. Speaking of they almost butchered lee with deleting his core, while on top lane there’s only two champs who can 1v1 and get away with it. Riot has lost some of its balance skills, truth be told they don’t see that making adc a big influence is bad as they require, supports or the adc is not effective. Leading to the cause of now supports receiving the lowest love to the adc now being a torment of bot lane. A mid laner is made for the purpose to out dps an adc, and he receives no love. In logic rengar is the yasuoish jg with some crit, and a bush jump
