The New Sion
I feel like Sion's remake has a lot of potential, though his current kit is a little bit awkward in terms of combos he can do.
I like his new skillset, though I feel that he lacks a truly distinctive combo. I'm assuming that in general, people like to level his q first. It has the potential to stun, the windup isn't too bad and the full damage potential is very appealing.
His shield is great because it scales off his max health and does a % of the enemy's max health if popped.
His E looks good because it's a very cheap 25 manacost slow that deals damage, and if you hit a minion, it gets sent flying, passes through enemies, and deals more damage. However, I feel that Sion would be more entertaining and feel more rewarding if his E stunned enemies, if not briefly when using a minion as a projectile. That would allow for Sion to duel or engage with a combo of trying to land a secondary skillshot on an enemy through his E, followed by a charged Q and possibly popping his shield.
Currently, when playing him, I feel like his E is almost a secondary, spam it when you have it skill due to it's relatively low cost. And while the increased damage from hitting someone with a minion is rewarding, it doesn't feel as rewarding or as tactical as it should be. It feels more like an extra hit this for more damage skill, with not that much of an emphasis on the skillshot aspect of it.
In context of similar damaging abilities of other champions (Yes, I am committing this sin of "lets compare this to some champions with completely different skillsets") Ezreal's Q: Does damage and you are rewarded with a CD reset of 1 second if you hit an enemy. Veigar's Q: Does damage and you are rewarded with an increase in AP if you last hit an enemy with it. Vi's E: Does damage in a cone, and synergises with denting blows/her shield. Darius' Q: Does increased damage for positioning, but is also a subtle reward/guide in and of itself because the zone of increased damage tends to be in a range where darius should be able to readily engage or disengage an enemy without that much commitment. Syndra's E: Pushes enemies back, repositioning them, but also stuns if them if they are hit with one of her balls.
In these cases, the skills offer players rewards of extra utility for meeting a certain additional objective. Sion's E, while the additional damage from hitting multiple enemies along with the armour shred is appealing, feels unsatisfactory to me in that meeting the case of hurling a minion into someone does not grant extra utility.
Differing opinions are welcome, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong anywhere and add any suggestions etc.
