Support Warwick?

It sounds really stupid, but is there actually a way to make it work with his new kit?

He would be building tanky and going with Relic Shield.

You are melee (with no ranged abilities) and your only form of cc pre-6 is delayed. Post 6 is not delayed but is useless for escaping. You will have problems sustaining and poking so you will have to become an all in kinda support without reliable gapcloser or defense steroids.

I don'y know man....seems like you will be playing with with a handicap

There's a lot of champions like him that people try to play as support. These champions can do really freaking well, but due to their unreliable nature they can also feed horribly and ruin the lane for their team.

Traditional supports are used for their reliable nature. A champion like Warwick, in the support role, is all about snowballing. I wouldn't do this unless you're on voice coms with the ADC, or have played with the ADC before, and can sync up your play with them. Do all you can to destroy the lane and transition hard into global map pressure, which likely means building early damage and making bot a kill lane.

Warwick simply does not have the utility, innate tankiness, or sustain to be a tank support. You simply have to play him as a ball of death.

You do know his E gives him 55% Damage reduction at max rank, right you guys?

If you start with his E level 1 it does 35% damage reduction for 2.5 seconds, with a 15 second cooldown. If you max it from level 1 you get the 55% damage reduction at level 9, which is already past the point where bot lane can be decided and start snowballing in one direction.

What tools does warwick have that make him a good tank support relative to other champions who fill the same role?

  1. Nobody said he was better than other support tanks.

  2. He is very aggressive. He dives with his Relic Shield on minions so the stacks will never really be not used.

  3. Number 2 means more heals from relic shield.

  4. He is more a kill lane.

  5. His ult suppresses for 2.5 seconds which cannot be broken out of from what I heard?

  6. He zones just by being there.

  7. If an ADC cant get a kill because they are too slow, you can because you are basically a diver. Kinda like Camille if she was to support.

Exactly. Don't play him as a tank support, play him as a ball of death.

It is possible I'm wrong, as I've never played him as a support, but it seems like he would be more useful if you played him to his strengths as a support, instead of trying to make him compete with supports who fill the tank support role so much better than he does.

No, I mean he is kill lane, but not the traditional sense.

He's like a Leona hybrid.

So like if you acted as a secondary somewhat more tanky adc?

You would fill a role similar to what Brand or Annie fills, only with physical damage instead of magic damage.

Also this thread is a year old. I know sometimes you just want to ask a question, but do check how old a post is before you reply to it please.

I feel like he would just be a really bad Sion support. You have no value before 6 and post-6 you won't really have the gold to do much without your ultimate.

I seen a couple WW supports in soloq and they did well.

Despite what others are saying, they actually sucked early game and then scaled hard later. They mostly built tanky, and because of his E, soaked all the damage like a braum and then feared an entire team full or grouped people making fights one sided.

I think WW support could be viable in the current state he's in, but after he gets some tuning to make him a better jungler in general (he's really weak when you don't factor in his beef stats), he'll probably fall from being a support since his only strength is his E bulk, which could get nerfed for more power in other abilities.
