Best Runes on Zilean?

So I took a break from League when the updated rune system came out. I figured that it would be super imbalanced for awhile (might still be a little imbalanced), and that after a few weeks people would have a better idea of what's finding success. One of the things I was excited about is that Aery seems to make Zilean a pretty viable support pick now.

I've had some varied success with poke-zilean before, and was wondering what you guys would consider to be an "optimal" rune page for him. Right now I have Aery, Ultimate Hat (since his R is OP in lategame), Transcendence, and Scorch (for poke). Then the other set is Magical Footwear, because it seems super gold efficient, and stopwatch.

That's just my instinct as to what would work on him, but I haven't researched winrates or played with any of the new runes yet. Do you guys have any other suggestions?

As long as you get to 45 CDR + ultimate hat I don't think it matters much. Scorch is good for laning, gathering storm is good for late game. Zilean can usually keep a game going if you are behind so reaching late game isn't too out of the ordinary.

Rather or not you pick magical boots or in debit rune. it's hard late game to come back if facing tanks.

Look at your opposing team comp and you gotta make changes on the fly. Like the NHL coaches 4th line against their opposing top line, but best defense pairing. [slayer-jinx-catface]
