Seriously riot?

So last season was my first ranked season, I did poorly as expected I got b4 but got sent back up to b5. Anyways, so I spent the majority of the season learning a small pool of champions I enjoyed and tweaked my strategy with them to win. these include reworked Yorick, Warwick, Shyvana, Leona, and Veigar. I play fairly well with all of them. So the new season comes and I play my placements, winning 8 out of 10. I got placed Bronze 5. Seriously riot? I spend a whole season learning the game and a small pool of champs to do well in ranked. regardless I ranked b5 anyways? Like I understand I did bad last season but I dedicated a whole season to doing better and learning the game. Yet I'm still placed at the lowest of the low? I could understand b3 or b1 but b5 even winning the majority of my promos? This just seems kinda absurd.
