Friend lost promo game even though we won??

So me and my friend played a promo game of his (silver promos) and after 20 minutes or so he disconnected (internet issues). We still managed to win and it is a win in his matchhistory, but its a loss in the promos for him for some reason. Is this nonsense intentional from Riot?

yes... anything 5min or over worth of afk/dc and its an auto loss

Yup unfortunately it is correct. I've had it happen myself and is really annoying.
