Ornn Passive: Living Forge
Recent changes to Ornn's Passive which caused the items in his inventory to be automatically upgraded as well as altered the mechanism through which his teammates items are upgraded has ultimately detracted from the unique customization that this passive once provided. For example: In a given situation where it might be beneficial to rush / build the Iceborn Gauntlet prior to other tank items, Ornn upon reaching level 13, is automatically awarded with the Frozen Fist. This is problematic because the late-game priorities may have shifted to where the bonus stats from this Frozen Fist are no longer valuable; and, the Ornn player would rather upgrade a different item instead. Additionally, with the changes to upgrading ally's items when an ally has multiple items which could possibly be upgraded, there comes the tricky situation where the system (rather than the player) must select which item receives this power boost. A common example of this would be a mage on your team having Zhonya's Hourglass, Luden's Echo and Rabadon's Deathcap (or any combination of at least two of the three). The system appears to choose whichever item it wants rather than allowing the player to decide which of those bonus stats are most appropriate to the situation. This lack of customization on behalf of the player is truly frustrating; especially when somebody wants that extra bit of Ability power that the Deathcap upgrade would provide or the additional armor / mana the Zhonya's / Luden's provide with their respective upgrades. Perhaps explicitly making the ally upgrade portion of Ornn's passive apply to the first item in slot (under the generic 1,2,3,4,5,6 numbering) would allow various teammates to decide which item they wanted upgraded via communication with the Ornn player as to when they were ready to receive their upgraded bonus. In terms of Ornn himself, the items could be chosen via the shop menu and Ornn would perform the same smithing animation for his Living Forge which would allow a little more be lee-way in the different needs of early game vs late game; without forseeably restricting build-paths as the Ornn player avoids building his Iceborn Gauntlet or any other item until after reaching level 13.
Ultimately all of these changes could be summed up as Quality of Life improvements for everybody's favourite Smith-God.
Just wanting to raise this idea to as many individuals as possible; would appreciate any thoughts or feedback.
