My personal opinion as to why I can never become a better player

In my games I have been noticing something that I feel affects me more that most other players in the game and that has yet to have changed. Almost every game I play now, I realize that the players/summoners i get matched up in a team with, are not as educated about the game as much as I am. I notice many very simple flaws in other people that can be easily fixed, but never do get fixed so much as warding, checking the map, keep up with cs, pinging. I don't even know if writing this and ranting about this topic will do me any good for the future, but I feel that it has to be addressed one way or another. Almost every game that I have played at one point of the time that I have been playing League of Legends, I would try to "Counterpick" other players in the pick/ban screen. I would go as far as to looking up the enemy champion on the internet just to find their counter, but after a while of doing this and following this method, I realized that it didn't matter because most of the time, the enemy wouldn't know how to use their counters against my champion so I fell to the realization that counterpicking does not apply to me at all, not because I don't know what I am doing, but because the enemy team never knew what they were doing. Another flaw that I saw was cs. Normally when I make a big comeback in a game, it is mostly due to my cs skills because I took the time to learn how to last hit minions. I started to notice that most other players do not realize how bad they are at this and tend to not pay attention to cs at all. This is bad because it applies to both the enemy team as well as my own. This is bad because they do not realize how important gold is and how essential it is to winning a game. I have played 2 or 3 games today as an adc and my support would hit cs. At first it is not that bad, but after I have asked multiple times in chat for them to stop hitting cs and they don't listen, it begins to be a problem. Another big thing is warding. I ward almost every time I get the chance to, but a lot of the time I see players on my team who rarely ever use their wards to gain vision. This leads to checking the minimap. I admit that I still struggle with this because it is a habit that I haven't gotten into, but at the same time it's not like I never check the minimap. I check it just enough to know what is going on at almost all times throughout the game but when I look at other players and they don't seem like they know what is going on throughout the whole map most of the time. I know that I am not perfect in anyway at all and I am not saying I deserve to get promoted because of the topics that I have just covered, I am saying that I don't feel that I should be getting matched with the players/summoners that I get matched up with. I feel that the only reason why I cannot further improve myself in this game is mostly because the players/summoners I get matched up with are not improving either. I am simply saying that I feel like I should get matched with other people who fit my playstyle, and I mean that as in other players who are equal to my skill level because I know for sure that I do not get matched with people who know as much about this game as I do. I have been playing this game long enough to realize my flaws and fix them, but I often get matched with people who are still fairly new to this game in comparison. If this gets read by a RIOT employee, please send me a message and let me know what I should do or why this happens to me and if this happens only to me. Let me know that RIOT actually pays attention to their players/summoners. Thank you.

P.S. I didn't mean for this to go up in forums I just wanted to post something that would be made public and that a RIOT employee could look at as well so if you have any opinions, and I mean real opinions, feel free to comment

It sounds like you are assuming an "inability" to get better allies implies an "inability" to become a better player.

In your post, you alternately say you can't improve (because of your teamates) and say there are things you could still work on (such as better map awareness). You can always work on improving your personal play, even if that doesn't necessarily result in winning every game.

We all have games where we wonder how someone is in the same match as us, but this works the other way as well. If you are noticing widespread poor habits on your team, chances are, the other team will be exhibiting them as well. You can work on improving your ability to take advantage of these mistakes.

Some specific suggestions based on a quick glance at your op.gg (feel free to take or leave, argue, or ask for further clarification):

  • Consider looking at some guides that may suggest some alternate runes, masteries, or items builds that may give you ideas you hadn't considered before. In particular, Thunderlord's has fallen out of the meta for ADCs. Much more common now is Fervor of Battle or Warlord's Bloodlust. I'm not suggesting blindly following guides, as I have things I do that aren't in any of the guides, but it's good to see what others are thinking.
  • Try to always keep deaths to a minimum. This is obviously more difficult when you are behind, but keeping your death count down is always a solid goal.
  • Consider playing ranked. (I almost didn't make this suggestion, because not everyone feels the same about ranked and trying hard can only do so much to overcome legitimate skill issues, so you may end up with the same issues in ranked that you do currently.) Right now you play just normals. This is not a bad thing. However, matchmaking is more likely to be poor in normals than ranked (though you could find a lot of people that would say ranked matchmaking isn't good either). Specifically, in ranked, you will never be paired with accounts under level 30. Also, most people take normals less seriously and are more likely to be playing new-to-them champions or builds. If you are already playing normal draft, you already know how the ranked game will work (picks, bans, etc.). The only difference will be that a rating gets attached.
