Recent Fizz Buffs from the POV of a Fizz Main

First I want to start by saying this: Fizz was overbuffed, IMO. He feels a little too strong right now and had a 53% WR almost immediately when the new patch hit with a decent pick rate. However, his overall WR has already lowered and started to even back out. Currently on OP.GG Fizz has a 50.22% overall WR in the midlane and is WAY behind champs like Talon (53%), Ahri (52.7%), Vlad (51.6%), Ekko (51%), Oriana (50.4%) and Zed (50.7%) who all have HIGHER win rates and HIGHER pick rates. Granted, I will note that high mmr Fizz WR is still around 53%.

However, I also want to address the other posts that keep coming up. The people who say "why was he buffed", "Fizz buffed again, wtf Rito", etc.

These posts don't make any sense. Fizz wasn't "buffed again" he was hit with a SUPER hard nerf last patch which made him completely useless. Anyone who says that Fizz was "perfectly fine" last patch and didn't need to be buffed is, quite frankly, full of it.

Far too often people tend to see a current issue (Fizz being too strong due to 8.15 changes) and completely make up other details (in this case Fizz not needing the buff) to strengthen their opinion against this issue. Anybody who says that Fizz was fine before 8.15 clearly did 0 research and doesn't play the champ. Fizz had a 47% WR in high ELO and an even lower WR below plat. Riot reworked Fizz W in 8.14 to be a "halfway" revert to the old Fizz W - like it was before the assasin class rework. Think of it like the recent Leblanc and Rengar reverts, but just not alllllll the way back to the original.

Fizz went from a 52% WR and low pick rate in 8.13 to a 44% WR in one day. Over the course of the patch Fizz slowly climbed back up to a 46% / 47% WR and stagnated there. He lost almost every game past 25 mins due to no longer having his burst damage W and had a much weaker laning phase than before (he already has one of the weakest pre-6 laning phases in the whole game). In order to do the same damage of his old W, he had to activate W, hit you, then auto attack you 4 more times. The ability became useless for an assasin.

If one of your champs was reworked and dropped 5-6% WR, had their laning phase gimped and their late game identity taken away you would all DEMAND for it to be buffed.

I understand Fizz is a generally hated champion, but you guys have to be realistic.

Riot tried to fix Fizz, but just like they underdid his power in 8.14 they now overdid it in 8.15. He will be nerfed next patch, most likely having his ult damage slightly lowered at all ranks and MAYBE a very slight nerf to his W active damage. But if they go too far back we will be in the same scenario as 8.14 where Fizz was completely useless. And remember, his WR is only sitting at 50.22% right now as it is already evening out as the patch goes on.

I feel strongly that he needed the buffs this patch, however, we definitely overshot so we're going to pull back a bit of power that we added this patch - we're currently talking to the tune of 1.5% -2% from a pure winrate perspective, and are trying to decide if we should hotfix it in on Monday as followup to this patch, or wait until 8.16. Typically we don't use hotfixing for tuning like this which is why it's a debate and not a sure thing. We do now that at this current power level he'll probably rise relatively quickly to top tier ban status which is something we'd ideally like to avoid.

I just ban Fizz so this doesnt really effect me to much when I play mid. I am basically only play Syndra mid though so it makes sense to ban him, but if I was to give a reason why I hate fizz is because of his ult. Before this mini rework I was getting so sick of going 1 or 2 kills up on a fizz then they land a single long range invisible ult (under minnions), BAM lane is lost! I would rather his power budget be more though his Q, W, E, and nerf his ult more.

These recent changes though seem really random to me.

Can you define 'evening out?' His win rate so far today has actually increased from 56% to 58% at Diamond.

Also reminder that balancing the game is actually someone's job, we shouldn't have to deal with their fuck ups for weeks before they get maybe fixed.

They should just revert him back to how he was before 8.14 and maybe they wouldn't have this issue.

But I permaban him either way so it doesn't matter to me.

Can someone link for me what Riot did to FIzz in earlier patches to make him weak?
