Pondering Tahms Eating Ability

Just a quick question, wouldnt it make more sense to be slower when you eat your allies since its basically a free escape rather than going faster, and the opposite for when you eat an enemy since it take more work to actually eat them (because you need to stack it up), the speed boost should be a reward?
