A Mage Update Update

Here are some stats from Lolking regarding the recently updated mages. Personally I'm mostly looking at pick rates because the point of the mage rework was to give them all unique identities and make people want to play them. If nobody is playing the new, reworked champs then all the update accomplished was pulling them out of the forgotten box and putting them right back in.

These are the mages with sub-5% pick. Note that many of these updates have been controversial with people that already play these champions, with the exception of Malzahar and I think Syndra. Anivia 2.3% pick rate / 51.7% win rate Cassiopeia 1.6% pick / 46.4% win Swain 1.9% pick / 50.7% win Syndra 2.5% pick / 45.9% win Velkoz 4.4% pick / 49.9% win Xerath 2.6% pick / 50.2% win Ziggs 2.8% pick / 50.3% win Viktor 4.2% pick / 51.4% win Malzahar 4.1% pick / 53.5% win / 61.9% ban Kennen 3.6% pick / 50.8% win

Mages with over 5% pick. Note that except vladimir these are the updates people seem most satisfied with. Zyra 6.1% pick / 53.5% win Vladimir 5.1% pick / 45.9% win Veigar 8.3% pick / 50.5% win Annie 11.2% pick / 52.2% win Brand 8.8% pick / 52.8% win Fiddlesticks 7.8% pick / 52.9% win

On the bright side one change in the mage update was wildly successful Lucian 43.6% pick / 51.7% win

Notably there are no AP champs (except morg and fizz, which are usually played support and tank top) are in the top 10 most picked champs. In fact an overwhelming number of them are Attack Damage champs.

After the mage update.
