Matchmaking System Report Option

Since the start of this season it looks like the matchmaking system is "running it down mid" and we often get teamates that are not supposed to be that high on the mysterious MMR ladder. It happened to me few times and one time i decided to request a ticket and this is what i got as a response :

Thanks a lot for bringing this to my attention! I hope this player did not ruin the day for you :( and don't worry, I'm going to look into this right now but please don't forget to also use the report system whenever you can.

I'm not a high rank player and it didn't affected me that much, but it is not fair for the player that got mismatched (in games that are even one full division lower than what the other 9 players are) to get reported.

It is quite simple what it is supposed to do, report the matchmaking system instead of the player himself. It should help the dev team to find the flaws in the system quicker, find some kind of fixes and maybe get few LP as a refound if it proves to be a matchmaking system error.

In general this won't help anything.

Most games that we view as imbalanced aren't due to matchmaking, but are due to snowballing, champion/role selection, or inconsistency.

While there are obviously Smurfs, those players will typically quickly rise to their appropriate rank and only spend a handful of games at each lower rank. Exceptions aren't due to matchmaking, but due to content creators purposefully keeping their rank down (e.g. by dodging).

Complaining about worse players, they got to the same Elo. While again some may have paid for a boost, in general it will just be someone having a bad game. Maybe they got ganked early or barely lost a 1v1 and then got snowballed on. Maybe their main was picked/banned. Maybe they aren't experienced against the champion their Lane opponent is on. Maybe they're tilted.

There are plenty of explanations for why someone appears to not deserve the Elo you're in. They still had to win the games to get there though. It's far more likely that matchmaking is fine but the variance in game to game performance is the issue. Pushing that player down just makes them get a really big stomp in the lower Elo game.

To be honest I experience it, I'm currently 2-2 in Top Lane Provisional w/ Provisional Rank of Bronze 3 34LP. Games 3 and 4 of Provisionals I was the only Bronze going by role everyone else was silver. (unless you count Silver in Support then everyone is Silver in some way).

Positional Matchmaking.. in Game 3 I smashed Silver 2 player gained like 60LP towards my Provisional Rank. Game 4 same stereo the only Bronze based on Position got completely smashed in Top Lane vs a Silver 1 player an felt useless to my team

Just feel like Positional Queue when it comes to Provisional Games has its flaws, cause Game 1 in Top for provisionals it was a bad game overall jungler was negative and inting.. while I'm Maokai vs Darius I hold my Turret while rest of the map falls apart and eventually I'm useless cause darius just chops me down cause I made the mistake to pick a tank champion for the Provisional Rank of Bronze 4 0 LP. (Noted Darius was Silver 3)

All 4 of my Top Lane Provisional Games have been against Silver Top Laners, due to the fact I am a Silver 4 Support. When playing Support my Bottom Lane Partner is Bronze vs a Silver Bottom Lane Player.. which is complete coinflip half the time which one is better

Just my experience here of positional Matchmaking to you over there in EUNE lustin

Yeah I'm very frustrated with the normal matchmaking system also since the season started. You see a lot of games where the average ELO is a full category higher on one team (like avg gold 2 vs avg silver 2). MMR aside these games very rarely end up with the dramatically lower team winning.

Worse is when some diamond 4 adc main decides it'd be fun to queue with their bronze 4 buddy and destroy everyone...just played a game like that...not surprisingly their diamond adc got 5 kills in the first 6 minutes and things devolved from there. You should ban people queuing with that great a discrepancy except for private games, or else put them against much higher average ranked opponents. Diamond players are top 2-3% of the community...hard to have fun when you're nowhere near that caliber and you get matched against them.

Good idea...but seriously good luck witht hat. Simple because look how much people believed the matchmaking was already not working correctly. Then look at how Riot went and made it even more difficult by adding Positional Ranking, which a very very small minority amount of players even wanted.

So before even fixing or perfecting their matchmaking they went and made it even harder for them to do.

Sometimes less is more....they need to stop making shyt so difficult for no reason.
