Why is AP Kennen no longer viable in pro play?

Back in Worlds 2016, every top laner who played Kennen built AP with items such as , but this season every single Kennen I see(both in SoloQ and Pro play) builds AD. Why is AP Kennen no longer viable? Is it because of Protobelt nerfs or nerfs/changes to his ultimate damage? Or buffs to Crit and Botrk? Now that they reduced AD ratio on W and increased AP ratio on E, will AP Kennen be viable again?

Because of the ultimate damage being shifted towards the backend of it but the protobelt probably didnt help it either
