Wish I Could Hide My Rank...

So, I just want to start off by saying I do not claim to be an amazing League player and I do not claim that I follow every intricacy about the game, game modes, champions, players, etc. I am just speaking as an average, but very long-term, league player.

I don't know if this has been brought up many times, but I would REALLY appreciate it if there was some way to prevent my rank from being seen by literally anyone who cares to take a gander. I feel like I am not allowed to give any input in games because people are constantly using my rank as an argument which is technically a logical fallacy, but it's the internet so nobody really cares about making any sense...

ANYWAY... I am not sure what the motivation was behind making everyone's ranks visible to one another. Perhaps it serves a purpose, I don't know. All I know is that if it doesn't serve a legitimate purpose other than bragging rights, it seems to just be fodder for elitist players flaming those who don't take the game as seriously. Personally, I do not play ranked. I have played a maximum of 20 ranked matches, my highest rank was Silver 2 at some point and then I stopped caring. Yet here months later my rank is being used against me as a means to dismiss my input to the team.

I would really deeply appreciate a way to hide my rank from other players or for this to be addressed in some other fashion.

I just want to end this by saying that I don't think all high-ranked players are elitist or rude just like I do not think all low-ranked players are bad at the game. This community can be harsh enough as it is and I know that one or two voices won't make much of a difference, but I figured it would be worth a try. I have not posted here in a very very long time, but I am tired of feeling like nobody cares what I say because of my rank in a game mode that I don't even want to play.

For all of you that have worked very hard for your ranks, I definitely give you props. It's more than I have ever had the courage to do simply out of fear of the community. In fact I am very uncomfortable just typing this!

TL;DR Not everyone has a continuing interest in ranked, yet their status in ranked mode is constantly used as a reason to invalidate their input in ALL game modes. Please consider addressing this or at least keep an open ear to others who may feel this way.
