I can't see a reason for Normal and Ranked games to have separate MMRs

Every game I play is against Diamond players, meanwhile I'm new to the game, just hit level 30. I'm definitely not good enough for these, and the fact that I keep getting stomped should reflect that. Even if somehow I was a Diamond level player already I'm definitely not going to win with the Silver and Bronze players I keep getting matched with against said Diamonds.

If they're Diamond skill level, they're Diamond skill level. It doesn't magically change in normal games. This is a very unfun experience and I'm tired of auto-losing games.

People often play drastically differently in Normals if they are primarily a Ranked player. They use it for practicing new things, want to do off-meta fun etc. While I think the gap should somehow be altered so it doesn't get too far from your real skill level, having the same MMR doesn't make sense to do. If you want the best matchmaking experience go to Ranked where people more often play at their maximum skill level, if you want convenient matchmaking where you can queue with your friends of any rank and not worry about tanking your Ranked MMR while you practice something do Normals.

I feel like ranked isn't the place for someone still learning the game.. Wouldn't be fair at all to the people on my team.

I guess I see your point a little bit, but a Diamond player trying a new role or something doesn't change the fact that at their core they're still wayyyy above the skill level of players like myself and the unfortunate low ranks that are matched with me. If they can find low ranks for my team surely they can grab some for the other?

Well, trust me it isn't fair that you have to be subjected to it. I have around 5k normal games in almost 6 years. So I generally get the experience of playing against Golds, Plats, and Diamonds (with the occasional masters) , and I'm fine with that. I just hate when my teammates aren't up to par with the game their about to play. Even if theirs one on the other team, it's just not as fun to play a lopsided game.

Also, are you talking about Nexus Blitz or Normal Draft because you've played nothing but Blitz. Blitz has it's own matchmaking and MMR as well, so that may be another reason.

Gotta get those 50% win rates somehow!
