New Gangplank is terrible

I've been playing GP for years and almost want to cry now. The visuals and voice are terrible, even worse than his kit update. His new e is good for clearing waves, and useless otherwise. Orange heal cut in half? I don't mind him being a weaker champ, but can riot please restore his old visuals and voice?

The barrels do a lot more than just waveclear. How can you even say that when it replaced Raise Morale? You simply don't know how to use them.

Imagine if they took Nami, removed her passive, and changed her E to place barrels that would need to be auto-attacked to do anything

Then they take her ult, weaken it, and require you to heal a team mate 100 times to 'upgrade' it.

Imagine if you made a remotely similar comparison that made sense and didn't completely undermine the actual use of the skill due to ignorance. Hmm? How about that? You even have to stalk my profile to see what kind of nonsense comparison you think would make me salty. That's ridiculous and makes your comparison even more useless.

Actually, if that's how you feel about what I said, then I've successfully communicated.

Old GP's E was arguably one of the worst skills in the game..

New GP's E is actually good if you know how to use it. Gives him waveclear without needing to buy items, does solid burst damage to enemy targets especially squishies and gives him even better synergy with crit and trinity force then old GP.

New ult is SLIGHTLY weaker, and his early gameplay is barely any different from before with a heavy focus on farming in the early game. You need 125 kills (monsters/minions/champions) with LEVEL 1 Q to get 500 silver serpents. Considering it should not take long to get to level Q up to 5 and that Power kegs grant silver serpents for every kill they make (if you use parrely to blow up the kegs) it should not be 100 kills to upgrade it (which makes then instantly improves his ult to be significantly stronger then the old ultimate). You should have 2 upgrades in under 150 CS with parrley.

I have to agree with the E being useless except for waveclear part. Anyone with half a brain will know not to enter the radius of it, and it's easily removed by a single attack. If you're a ranged champ you can pretty much consider every barrel a free 10g.

The damage doesn't even stack.

The damage doesn't stack because

  1. It ignores 60% of the targets armor
  2. Does 200 bonus physical damage at level 5
  3. Applies sheen proc in an AOE
  4. Can critically strike.

E isn't useless, you just don't know how to use it.

I get what barrels do and how you're supposed to use them. And my point is, what does any of that even matter if it's trivial to simply stay out of its range and then kill it at your leisure? The barrels have very unimpressive range and die to one auto attack. Ranged champions in particular can pretty much pretend like Gangplank doesn't even have an E.

Melee champions have the potential to get zoned by the barrels, but even then there is plenty of counterplay. Because GP has to use his Q to farm to get silver serpents, he's much less tempted to save it to detonate barrels. A melee champ can simply wait for him to detonate the barrel or last hit a minion for farm, then destroy any remaining barrels while his Q is off CD.

The problem is that the ability has so much counterplay that it's entirely dependent on your enemy fucking up. This is the same problem people have with Veigar's reworked E, so why am I not seeing any complaints about this one?

Follow the following steps

  1. Lay barrel near you, in bush cover if possible or on the other side of a wall.
  2. Drop more barrels in a line to enemy teams in a line rapidly
  3. Immediately shoot the first barrel with your Q. Barrel will chain basically instantly before the enemy can destroy them

It's even in the champion spotlight.

The barrels rapidly drop health but in a very predictable fashion. At level 13, it takes 1 second for the barrel to drop from 3 to 1 HP. It really isn't hard to hit it RIGHT as it hits one second.

Maybe someone could actually offer a reasonable argument on how the barrels are useful instead of just saying "no you're wrong" and downvoting everyone in the thread.

yea, i really hate that they made him a one trick pony, before you could play him in so many ways everywhere - and now it´s all farm up, farm some more and then splitpush or get a cheesy-barrel-crit in a wombo-combo. Really dissapointing.

The barrels start with 3 hits, and you can store 5 of them late game. Since casting barrels takes 0 CD, you can make an instant railroad with it. Place a barrel behind you and then spam barrels to enemy team, they CAN'T be destroyed by the enemy if its in the process of being destroyed. Easy peasy poke.

At max rank the barrels reach 1 HP almost instantaneously. Like, slightly less than half a second.
