Patch 6.9 -- The Unbalanced Update
Hello,
I hope I could address my disastrous gaming experience from the recent patch update 6.9.
As every game develops, no matter on MOBA like League or MMORPG, we players wish to both enjoying the game in a balanced environment, so as having a new experience constantly. I understand some changes on the Patch 6.9 are hoping to provide a better and newer feel for us, but I think some of those have gone too far. Hereby are two major concerns I hope to point out:
- Quicksilver Sash & Mercurial Scimitar
By contrast, cleansing a combat debuff wipes the applicator's primary means of fighting you. So, those champs are pressured to snowball before their effects become meaningless, while their opponents are forced into buying QSS even if it's incredibly inefficient to do so. This leads to destructive effects on game balance which we've left unanswered for too long.
_ Active: No longer removes purging combat debuffs._
As most player instantly points out, this seemingly small amendment have a huge impact of facing against ultimate of
- Zed's: Death Mark
- Fiora's: Grand Challenge
- Trundle's: Subjugate
Of the above, Zed's are the most concerned. This can be reflected by the overwhelming responses of the community and the booming ban rate. In this game, everything is about balance, no matter in the lore or actual gameplay: Diana and Leona, Tank and ADC. (Okay A bit irrelevant.)
The point is, there is not a decent and relatively appropriate counter against Zed's ultimate (Zed overall).
Against mages, you may get Hexdrinker/Maw of Malmortius for ADs, and Abyssal Scepter/Athene's Unholy Grail for APs. However with Zed, currently except Zhonya's for mages, there are not much counter-items for ADs. I understand Zed's ultimate are the key skill in his kit, but I don't think that such one-sided argument may override the fact that summoners cannot fight against Zed, provided that he has a bunch of kills early game. As some may say, when League is a team-playing game, the team as a whole can defeat Zed. This may be true but most of the time we are just getting wiped out by him.
It is unwise to remove such a crucial active or not to make an alternative, when there's no backup plans for ADs. This leads to even worse destructive effects.
- Malzahar
Although not much chants are about this champion, Malzahar's new passive also came to my attention.
- Void Shift: Immune to Crown Control and provide 90% Damage Reduction. Lost in 1 sec.
- Void Shift Cooldown: 23-6 seconds after taking direct damage (at levels 1-18)
Malzahar reached first place in win rates on BOTH mid-lane and jungle.
I agree that Malzahar need more protection. However, at mid-late game, it's low cooldown passive provide him more than enough protection, preventing much source of damage, especially CCs, in both pick-offs or team fights. When Malzahar already have a low cooldown silence and a hard CC from ult, it is not surprising that the relatively decent damage on his W and E can easily deal much damage to opposing enemies without actually affecting his danger too much. Personally, I think Malzahar has a overly high damage reduction and unreasonable immunity to CCs.
I hope this thread is not too long and/or hard to read. Pardon me for my terrible English as I am a HongKonger. Thanks for reading and I am longing to seeing reply from all of you.
