How does the placement system work?

I am really interested in how the placement system works. Because i did my placements for Solo/Duo and for Flex. In both placements i went 7/3. My preseason ranks were: Gold V Solo/Duo and Bronze 1 for Flex. Yet after the same placements i get placed in Bronze 1 in my Solo/Duo and Silver 5 for Flex. How does this work?

I was gold 3 in solo/duo went 2-8 and got bronze 1.

Was silver 2 in flex went 5-5 and got bronze 2.
