Why are many of the ''newer'' champions so annoying to play against ?

I used to play League many years ago and enjoy it very much. I've been slowly getting back into it for the past December and the thing bugging me the most are newer champions are a pain in the ass laning against.

Examples are : Ekko, Yasuo, Zoe, Vel'Koz, Azir.

( Vel'koz & Azir cus i got them top as a melee and they are poke kings that ruined me completely ) it feels like newer champions just have kits more complicated and more rewarding than the older champions.

I'm not screaming out OP i just feel like everytime i get an unpleasant game it's against some of the newer champions which scale insanely well and you can do literally nothing about once they get their first two items.
